Composing this artwork taught me deep self-introspection, and reciting it has become therapeutic
Transitioned from a poet into artist, hopefully hearing this piece will give you clarity on the process that I went through. 

My wisdom and intuition was built from all the pain and the struggles
What I think is what I think, and if I say it, I don't want any limitations to how I can express it. 

I remember days driving through the 012 with Abuti, Second hand smoking his kwaii and imbibing all of his musical tastes. 

The aim is to create images with words and not create poetic confusion, at least I said poetic, but 
That's what I call most of what a huge number of these writers do when they're penning down, and not really giving you a picture so you can further understand the literature. 

I'm a product of my own making, don't wanna let another man's vision become my sole purpose. 
So I'm sticking to my own 
And I'm gonna keep converting my pain into lyrical beauty. 
And I'm gonna keep being that voice of truth for those that I care for.

The rest I barely talk to, so what does it matter? 
I'm not generally sociable, but I'm polite like the elite South African gentleman, mara around pretty girls I tend to stutter 

Guess we all have our Faults, I'm wondering if i look attractive while portraying mine. 
Inner me thinking, 'Marulela Ska ba snaai' 
But my face is telling a different story, cause it looks like I'm spasming handsomely

Evolution Of A Literary Artist Pt.1

Born free but I still find myself being enslaved by societal norms that most people are living by 
Are we all still enslaved but can't see the chains pulling us around cause our phones and minds are the things enslaving us 
Mama O tsaba hore di thagka tsaka di tlong sheya, mara kea itši hore ko ba tshwarra ko pele
Even if catching up only means coming outta the battle with a degree. 

Ba kwatisa kore I can always stand alone and still be able to find comfort even when I'm on my own. 
I'm getting lost in my thoughts trying to get piece of mind and stability from the completion of these poems. 
This how I ascend through all of the pain and confusion 

Let's stop being threatened by one another, we all have gifts that can create greatness for us...provided we search for and develop them 
It hurts to put your yourself out in the world just to have only one person see you nkarri your existence only caters to their specific vision. 
Mara I guess this is part of the process. 

I want the the progression without the challenges,but I know you can't have the one without getting the other 
This is what means to fulfill parts of my purpose 
This is what it means to love more of myself as I share these poems 

Fuck I'm not a rapper, I'm doing spoken word, know that you expect me to stay in that box know that you know what category I'm in 
But I'm an artist and I create it all, I can't be restricted by your categories...simply because I created multiple of my own
know that I may come off as a cliché, but I have to be seen as one in the beginning right? 
 And I wouldn't be able to be at peace if I didn't try to at least let the wording pave the way. 

So grateful to have started , even more that I will keep persisting.

I know i say A lot of stupid shii that's hugely misunderstood
You make me doubt the things I say and the way I say it to you.
You show me you care, but not enough to let me in.
You show me you're flawed, just enough to keep me away. 

Thing is, you're far from being average by any measure
Hard to find any time I'm not being critical with myself about the content of the things I said to you.

I should start seeing this differently, you'd be lucky and as blessed to have me in your life  just as I am to have you in mine..
I should expel you from my mind, but that seems difficult to do right now

I like what I'm becoming, but speaking to you makes me overthink everything I say, I'm flip flopping on my statements
Don't have the heart to deal with that...
And what wasn't built doesn't have to be remembered, right?

Don't understand why I'm so attached to monogamy, gotta let go of what wasn't meant to be 
Even if it runs through my mind on a daily. 

This is that dope art thou , how can you not feel it? 
You could try to ignore the artistry, but the wording is too compelling 

We're hardly ever on the same state of mentality , I guess that's why so many of them can't relate 
But I'm relatable, there's no way you won't be able to relate to this. 

maybe it's time I just accept that I'm going down as a pioneer of south african literature 
Ake ngwale ka banyana fela, the reach of my pen is limitless, O tlo bona le wena 
And I'm putting that on God, weitši hore it's meant to be.

a part of me has always been a little ashamed of where I'm from
But, I can't be in a position to feel that anymore
So I'm holding closely to the roots that helped me sprout, and with that said I'm still taking the wealthy man's route

I am going to overcome without succumbing, and that's what I expect of myself
Picking off the toxic and acquiring all of the good so it can make me greater than before. 

At times its hard to understand the goodness in other people's hearts, because I lack a lot of that in my own heart

way past trying to prove that

Thoughts exposed, I left them for you to examine... 

Will you label me heartless or a boy with passed on characteristics that have me looking out for my own interests before anyone else's? 
The Truth flows precisely when it's not being manipulated by my need to be in control. 

So I'm asking this, is the blockage in my pathway filled with fears I feel I can't face? 
I may as well Exploit my own pain for artistic recognition and profit gain. 

I Project future prosperity with difficulty, but isn't that everyone's fate, provided you accept it. 
There's always been a huge jar of vanity in  disposal with my name written across it 
waiting for me take a dip into my own poison... 

Being a resident in my mind, residing in my hopes and dreams. 
I'm trying to convert my overthinking mind into a fortress of optimism 
Always going to have some great shii to say that they won't ever like, cause I'm the one saying it 

Do all creators eventually become destroyed at the hands of their own creation? 
Or do their complexities continue being the biggest contribution for the beauty found in all of their creations?
Will never know about my own immortality, but I definitely know that this creation will live for an eternity, and just so ya know...that means forever.

Success that is for one's self doesn't need to be validated by the rest of the world.
Read that again.
Note to self, my achievements don't need to be televised or be put on the net.

I Say This, when you're living in a generation where the camera is always pointed at you it's hard to remove your facades.
Fake snaps to grow my insta, fake snaps to shut up all my haters, 
What more to give besides that artificial bullshii. 

The flaws that the little voice in my head ridicules are the same flaws that got me so well-put-together, therefore artistic prosperity comes from utilizing their true power. 

Always felt like there were things I saw that nobody else did, now explaining myself has me sounding crazy, now ain't that some typical shii 

Imperfect humans can create perfect artwork.
That's why my collecting these flaws like they're items on a checklist, knowing that accepting them is what makes them powerless over me. 

I know that they don't care about what I have to recite, but I do...
And that is more than enough for me.
Turned my ugliness into lyrical beauty that only a handful will see 🖐🏾 
And just as the saying goes, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder 
Though, this beauty will most probably be looked away from. 

I ran before learning to walk just to end up falling on my own feet. 
Spoke without auto correcting my thoughts, just to end up frustrating her. 
It'd take a minute before that set in, like most of the metaphors I penned down.

Sometimes it feels like we're meant for each other, and most of the time it feels like I'm the only one who sees that
I seem to wanna know what you think of me, constantly wondering if I'm good enough for you
You're the one that reminds me to keep fermenting my greatness 
Kinda like I'm experiencing more of the growth and a lot faster with you by my side. 

You seem to have a an effortless flair of making me feel more than I usually could,
I easily unravel with you...
It always seemed like we brought out the best in each other, every time we interacted. 
 yearning for your love like its one of the things Modimo intended for me in his plans for me. 
But damn... 
Sometimes I feel like I'm on the bitter end of a fantasy. 
But other times I feel that maybe I should fight for this. 

How?
How do I let go of someone who wasn't with me to begin with
When I was with you my dreams felt so tangible, nkarri I could pick them out of my back pocket and look at them casually like I was searching for the time on my phone. 
A long time away from you but i still hear your name lingering around in my mind
Taunting me, advising me to go see you, rather than to leave you as a distant memory.

I'm seeing you in my dreams nkarri you're a part of my present and my future
You're always so physically far away from me, but still so close to my heart 
You can add this to a long list of poems that I've written for you and about you. 

 the best way I know how to express myself is through these poems
though I've never really had a struggle showing my self to you
Still so much more that I want you to see
and a lot more that I want to discover about you 
And of course, that's if you let me. 

I feel so little for it all except the things I care about, and sometimes I feel like you relate to that.

But maybe that time has long passed, and maybe I'm being unrealistic

Sometimes

I was wrong about a lot of things, but you gotta move nonetheless
Feel the distance between my friends and I,
and I start to realize that I may be the problem.😭😂
But I'm willing to accept that, so why I can't you? 
And my solution may be to silently detach. 
It hurt not be apart of the memorable moments
FOMO got me feeling regret, but once I remember the 'why', I feel a sense of relief. 
Could've given two fucks, but not being included got me seeing the bigger picture 
Mathlo a bulegile, and die chommi3 di vayile 
Brayaka, bophelo bo saillo tswelapele. 
So I'm taking it for what it is, even if there's nothing left to take.
