Isatta Sheriff and Koralle strike again! ‘Will They Try’ is the third single from the upcoming EP ‘Eat The Kiwi Skin’ by the East London MC and the Bologna-based beat smith. Through her purposeful lyrics which Isatta has become renowned for, we witness her poetically reflect on her battles to get to this point in her musical career. 

“This is the most important track on the EP as it addresses the exploitation of Black women in hip hop, and the exploration of hip hop in general. We have started to talk about the countless Black female singers and songwriters in dance and hip hop music who go uncredited in the U.K, and I wanted to extend the conversation to Black female rappers and explore the racial politics and misogynoir connected to this. 
People often ask the same questions regarding women’s position in hip hop, and I ask ‘will they try to understand’ the full scope of the problem and then DO something, because the conversation is stuck and needs to progress.” - Isatta

Produced by Koralle, the soul-filled production combines elements of Jazz and Hip-Hop, with the saxophone colliding perfectly with her lyrics to allow the story to unfold. The artwork was created by Colombian illustrator SagaUno who also did the covers for The Silhouettes Project (2020) and Koralle's Beat Kiosk (2021). 

‘Eat The Kiwi Skin’ will be available digitally and on LP (including instrumental edits of all tracks for the beat lovers out there) on September 23rd.

Isatta’s track record includes collabos with Flying Lotus, Oddisee, Arrested Development and Athletic Progression. She is hosting a radio show, runs her own label Doctored Sound and works as a music writer. Koralle is one of the most in demand European beatmakers with a sound rooted in jazz and boom-bap. Since signing with MPM in 2019, he has released three albums and accumulated more than 30 million streams. The duo’s first collabo ‘Laid Back’ was released in 2021 as part of Koralle’s album Fonografie.

She is a songwriter and producer who likes to dabble in playing piano, bass, and guitar. With ‘Velvet Blue’, she offers another musical short story taken from her debut album ‘Pairing Mode’, which will be released on March 3rd.

In each song (or chapter) Ray moves through a perspective on solitude. From longing for love to feeling contempt with yourself, disoriented, and then empowered again. Ray’s honest lyrics paired with her vulnerable, yet sophisticated and bold voice guide us through an emotional dreamy space found somewhere between heartbreak and hope. “’Pairing Mode’ is like a collection of polaroid pictures. Or like a menu, composed of several delicate dishes” she explains, emphasizing that it is to be enjoyed with all our senses. Every track is “a moment that has been captured and is complete as it is.”

Ray and her co-producer Samon Kawamura (Max Herre, Joy Denalane, Megaloh) create a landmark in German-Asian culture. Their sound is following in the footsteps of the art and soul of Solange's ‘When I Get Home’ plus some quirkiness à la Tierra Whack - but always undoubtedly Ray Lozano. Her music offers a sense of home - direct, soothing, and playful. ‘Pairing Mode’ is accompanied by a strikingly gorgeous poetic film, produced by visual artist Parissa Charghi.

“’Pairing Mode’ means connecting with each other” Ray says. “With everything that is and everything that is not. 2020, after all, was a year when we were all suddenly thrown back on ourselves. Had to deal with diffuse or less diffuse losses and were forced to downshift. At the same time, it also offered the chance for us to get to know ourselves and others once again in a different way. To connect with ourselves. With what remained and what had to be let go of.”

In each song (or chapter) Ray moves through a perspective on solitude. From longing for love to feeling contempt with yourself, disoriented, and then empowered again. Ray’s honest lyrics paired with her vulnerable, yet sophisticated and bold voice guide us through an emotional dreamy space found somewhere between heartbreak and hope. “’Pairing Mode’ is like a collection of polaroid pictures. Even though the songs are short they are long lasting - perfectly capturing the many fleeting thoughts and emotional states during solitude and shifting times. A yearning, a need. A need for quiet, for lightness, for space, for experiments, for a good laugh, for “situationships”, for clarity. A friendly reminder to hold on and listen for the nuances.

Introducing Sola Rosa!

Kiwi soul is on the rise and we are happy to welcome Sola Rosa as our latest signing from down under. Back home in NZ, the band, lead by mastermind Andrew Spraggon is already a household name with their trademark mix of soul, reggae, hip-hop and whatnot. Call it modern day roots music if you like. Extremely well produced and catchy as a Holland/Dozier/Holland tune. Occasionally backed by a string quartet but with creaking basslines at the low ends. Mic duties are handled by an international ensemble of singers, chatters and MC's like Spikey Tee, Iva Lamkum, Bajka and Serocee.

On July 29, we release the first single „Turn Around“ featuring the wonderful Iva Lamkum. The album „Get It Together“ follows on September 30.

LESKY (Production) and Waywell (Guitar & Bass) team up again for new single “Krautology” from their upcoming joint album “Samaya”. Since meeting in Tbilisi, Georgia, the two expats, originally from Germany and the UK, have released three projects through Melting Pot Music, with "Mesame" and "Upper Vera" available on LP. The artwork is crafted by Cologne-based artist Gizem Erdem.

Waywell’s deeply soothing guitar riffs combined with LESKY’s crisp production make for a perfect blend of cosmic lofi and subtle yacht rock vibe. LESKY, born in Leipzig, moved to Georgia in early 2021 to pursue music full-time. Creating his own soundscape fusing mellow neo soul keys, trap infused beats and samples flipped beyond recognition, LESKY has garnered widespread acclaim, securing his place as a regular in the biggest editorials of the lofi phenomenon. He has released five EPs and full-length album “Meraki” on Melting Pot Music, as well as several projects on renowned labels like Blue Note Records/Astralwerks and Lofi Girl. Berlin-based producer, composer and instrumentalist Leon Pock, formerly known as beatmensch5000, introduces his new project ODYLE with the release of his first single ‘Caesura’. 

ODYLE’s upcoming debut album ‘18 Months Of(f)’ (29.11.24) was crafted during the challenging years of 2022-2023, a period marked by significant personal obstacles. After contracting COVID-19, he faced a prolonged battle with Long COVID (ME/CFS), which severely impacted his daily life and creative process. Despite enduring persistent fatigue, ODYLE continued to create music, albeit with great difficulty. The experience demanded perseverance, patience, and resilience, which ultimately shaped the album’s thematic superstructure and creative journey. The ambivalence of time—both its slow, arduous passage during recovery and its relentless, fleeting nature—became a central theme in the music. 

Particularly influential for his first solo project is the live jazz and hip-hop format Black Bear Basement (sax, keys, vibraphone/perc, turntables), which he founded in 2016 and with which, in addition to a sold-out tour, he was also represented at several established festivals. The band's sound concept, in which sophisticated production skills and the organic timbre of the four instruments result in fully developed beat compositions, also forms ODYLE's unique body of sound.

The album also showcases the talents of singer-songwriter fraen as well as award-winning jazz saxophonist Phillip Dornbusch and bassist Viktor Velinov, both key figures in Berlin's flourishing jazz and new soul scene.

Leon Pock has been a pivotal figure in Berlin's music scene for several years, contributing as a producer, composer, and songwriter across both German and English-speaking circles. As a pianist and musical director, he has toured extensively throughout Germany and Europe. Under his former alias beatmensch5000, Leon has released multiple albums and numerous singles, collaborating with a diverse array of artists.

ODYLE’s upcoming debut EP ‘18 Months Of(f)’ (29.11.24) was crafted during the challenging years of 2022-2023, a period marked by significant personal obstacles. After contracting COVID-19, he faced a prolonged battle with Long COVID (ME/CFS), which severely impacted his daily life and creative process. Despite enduring persistent fatigue, ODYLE continued to create music, albeit with great difficulty. The experience demanded perseverance, patience, and resilience, which ultimately shaped the EP's thematic superstructure and creative journey. The ambivalence of time—both its slow, arduous passage during recovery and its relentless, fleeting nature—became a central theme in the music. 

Particularly influential for his first solo project is the live jazz and hip-hop format Black Bear Basement (sax, keys, vibraphone/perc, turntables), which he founded in 2016 and with which, in addition to a sold-out tour, he was also represented at several established festivals. The band's sound concept, in which sophisticated production skills and the organic timbre of the four instruments result in fully developed beat compositions, also forms ODYLE's unique body of sound.

The EP also showcases the talents of R&B singer DALEE and singer-songwriter fraen as well as award-winning jazz saxophonist Phillip Dornbusch and bassist Viktor Velinov, both key figures in Berlin's flourishing jazz and new soul scene.

Leon Pock has been a pivotal figure in Berlin's music scene for several years, contributing as a producer, composer, and songwriter across both German and English-speaking circles. As a pianist and musical director, he has toured extensively throughout Germany and Europe. Under his former alias beatmensch5000, Leon has released multiple albums and numerous singles, collaborating with a diverse array of artists.

solo nour are Billie Barleben (voice) and Anatolian Lover (music), both based in Cologne. The name ‘solo nour’ is derived from the Spanish ‘sol’ and the Arabic ‘nour,’ symbolizing light. ‘limits’ is their very first single.

Billie Barleben—yes, that is her real name—is a trained actress and loves to dance. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she is involved with the project minhafaktur, a cooperative in Cologne-Poll that creates spaces for collaborative and interdisciplinary work. At the first event she organized, Yaşar Fidan—known as Anatolian Lover—also performed. Anatolian Lover grew up in Ankara and Ingolstadt. He is a beatmaker with a classic hip-hop background and has released various works with Dezibelle Records from Berlin. He is also an aspiring social worker who conducts workshops on racial equality, diversity, and masculinity.

It took a second meeting for Billie Barleben and Anatolian Lover to come together as solo nour. The fact that this happened at a surf camp in France is a charming anecdote, but not the main point. A few weeks later—in Winter 2023—they met for the first time in Yaşar's home studio in Cologne-Mühlheim. Since then, they’ve hardly ever stopped making music.

“At some point, I received a message from Yaşar that he needed a break from me because he couldn't hear my voice anymore over all the mixing. At that time, there were ten songs in progress—simultaneously. Now it’s fine again,” Billie jokes, adding, “Our music has become a place of encounter and connection. With solo nour, a deep friendship has also developed.”

This is a friendship they now want to share with the rest of the world. It’s about time, we think, because the way solo nour brings together hip-hop, indie, soul, and pop is very much worth a listen.

Waywell’s deeply soothing guitar riffs combined with LESKY’s crisp production make for a perfect blend of cosmic lofi and subtle yacht rock vibe. LESKY, born in Leipzig, moved to Georgia in early 2021 to pursue music full-time. Creating his own soundscape fusing mellow neo soul keys, trap infused beats and samples flipped beyond recognition, LESKY has garnered widespread acclaim, securing his place as a regular in the biggest editorials of the lofi phenomenon. He has released five EPs and full-length album “Meraki” on Melting Pot Music, as well as several projects on renowned labels like Blue Note Records/Astralwerks and Lofi Girl. “Bernie Says” is the debut album from South London producer Jake Milliner. 

Raised in a musical household and embroiled in golden era richness from a young age, Jake’s spaced out, soul drenched sound has been building him a reputation as “one to watch” amongst core groups of boom bap fans over the past few years (including T-3 from the legendary Slum Village). He’s also received support from the likes of Boiler Room, Clash Magazine and Afropunk. 

Jake has produced tracks for artists like Barney Artist, Hawk House, Bubblerap, Lord Apex, Zilo, Musiq Soulchild and T-3. With “Bernie Says” Jake himself steps into the spotlight for the first time. On 13 tracks Jake Milliner makes the transition from beatmaker/producer to fully fledged artist. His boom-bap roots are still intact on “Bernie Says” but the sound spectrum relies also on jazz and boogie with lots of heavy keys – courtesy of Jake himself and Alfa Mist who is guesting on the first single “Reminisce” alongside trumpeter Marcus Tenney. Some other key players from the London jazz scene are making cameos too on the album but have to stay uncredited for contractual reasons. On the vocal-side Jake is joined by former Hawkhouse singer/rapper Bubblerap and long-time friend 25. The artwork is based on works by London artist Stuart Ruel. 

The album enjoys radio-support from some key players on BBC 6 including Marry Anne Hobbs, Tom Ravencroft and Don Letts and has gained various plays on Worldwide FM and NTS.

The Silhouettes Project a new platform for up and coming Hip-Hop, Soul and Jazz artists from the UK. It is not a record label or management team, it is a community project. The Silhouettes Project provides an open space - a recording studio and live venue located within the Total Refreshment Centre in Hackney, London - where MCs, singers, musicians and producers can connect and create.

The Silhouttes Project was founded by community organisers/artists Asher Korner (aka Kosher) and Jaden Osei-Bonsu (Eerf Evil) in 2019. When they told us about the project and played us some of the music we were instantly hooked and joined the collective as label partner. The art direction is executed by Sergio „SagaUno“ Alférez, an acclaimed designer and illustrator from Medellín, Colombia.

Starting in September, we release a new single each Thursday from artists like Kofi Stone, Summers Sons, Enny, KeepVibesNear, Manik MC, Lex Amor, Louis The Hippie, Summer-Pearl, Joe Beard and many more.

All 15 singles will also be availble on one LP towards the end of the year.
