The 59th episode of Schimmer's podcast series was recorded by Berlin-based DJ and promoter Reka Zalan.

Reka is known for hypnotic depths and percussive drives — always tuned to atmosphere and often drawn to the gloomier sides of Techno. Her sets, whether digital or vinyl, move forward, outward, and inward, balancing tension and flow. Deeply rooted in Berlin’s scene, she’s a local Tresor resident, Hard Wax staffer, part of Coppi collective, and former ://elements co-host. Before immersing herself fully into club life, she worked at the Berlin Music Commission. Driven by curiosity and connection, Reka loves building bridges through sound and shared moments.

Gothenburg-born DJ and producer Mohajer brings her galvanizing spirit and sophisticated cuts to the series with a 73-minute release. The Swedish veteran and key member of Fast Forward Productions has cultivated over a decade’s worth of sounds from her Berlin base and provided the soundtrack for her mp3 parties as co-founder and long-running resident, as well as for gatherings across a spate of clubs like RSO, Tresor, Berghain, Fold and Basement. Her productions play with her Persian heritage and a blend of electronic music genres to bring a fresh and uplifting take to market: a sensual and bustling mix of driving techno with a heavy focus on community building and human connection. Her dynamo beats emerge from her deep understanding of a dancefloor’s energy, and render obvious her quick-witted feel for music and people. Her forthcoming EP on Spray’s Punctuality Records twists that palette into something bold and elastic: a confident cascade of mystique, mayhem and sensuality. Paris-via-Berlin based DJ and producer Arkan onboards the series this week with two hours fully embracing his deep, hypnosis-inducing mindset and definite knack for shaping streamlined floor narratives. Responsible for a handful surgical transmissions on the likes of Figure and SK_Eleven, in addition to running his own imprints Autonome and Drawner, the French artist keeps carving out a niche for himself at the junction of purely pragmatic, gravity-defying grooves and a certain orientation for experimental-leaning submersion, tailored to maintain techno's intrinsic relevancy and boundary-pushing character when so much material feels stuck in the emulative loop and not caring one bit to opt out the lame-ass continuum. One to keep the adrenaline rushing badman-style, and all brains in the room just as duly, unflinchingly stimulated.

Bassiani Podcast 272 brings together two techno heavy-hitters for a three-hour bout of heady, rolling grooves. In one corner comes Georgian mainstay and grassroots agitator NDRX, a formative member of Tbilisi's techno contingent. His early efforts in expanding the city's nightlife offerings helped drive radical change, and shaped the decades since. His mission further translated into the founding of Stare at DJ (2012), and 11th Floor (2015). Both are vehicles for the gathering and promotion of local talent without which, Georgia today would look much different. In the other corner comes Dustin Zahn, a midwestern champion for tribal rhythms and pulsating hypnotism. Heavily armed with a flurry of references including the brain-melting IDM of the late 90s and iconoclastic beats, Dustin founded Enemy Records in 2004. In recent years, he has made appearances on labels like Blueprint, Token, and Rekids. He also hosts the Trainwrecks Podcast, an outlet for intimate face-to-face chats with industry peers. This storied duo are a menacing match, a b2b pairing that manifests the adrenaline-fueled techno native to both their sounds and whips up a sum greater than both its parts. This latest number is a bout of fevered techno havoc devised by two sonic confrères, an auditory onslaught of hammering loops recorded live at Bassiani's season closing night.

It’s an elegant techno that layers up textures and builds up tension second by second, and steers its bow towards a distant and euphoric horizon. This master of mood is here with a number that’ll push your body and mind to the limit, liminal techno that hypnotises and fringes the frontier of techno.
