Day Dreaming RC Mix

This is a 1940 Steinway B rebuilt by the brilliant Jim Wilson (pictured here) in LA.  It's the finest piano I've ever had the chance to play, and it's the new piano at Rocket Carousel Studio.  This is me improvising on it after it was tuned…. I put two mics on it, no EQ or compression, and ran into the control to hit record.

1984 Peterborough Kiwanis Festival, "Rhapsody in Blue"

This was a VERY indulgent experiment to see what I could build around an improvised piano performance.  I built it all on my first piano take, made up on the spot.  Then I recorded the drums in one take as the piano creation was pretty fresh in my head.  When I added bass I had to correct the notes a few times because I forgot some of the chords.  Guitar was a free-for-all.  The whole thing is a free-for-all.  Enjoy!

June Jump mix June 28 2013

A rough console mix from the session itself, one of my first recording sessions in Los Angeles as a session musician.  I got called to play Hammond B-3 for Elton John and Little Richard at Oceanway Studios in the big room.  The producer let me make my own stripped down mix and here it is, from 1994.
