Hard to believe it’s been 3 years since Jungle Fire first graced the RNT Catalog, and now the west coast boys of summer are back with a 5-track remix EP of varied Latin soul funk vibes, reimagined by a stellar cast of remixers.

On the A-side, Colombian juggernaut Felipe Gordon takes Atómico fully nuclear with a stomping bass-heavy house remix, and JKriv goes elektrik with his Elektrikossa dub that sprinkles dubbed out and acid elements over a pulsating rubbery groove.

On the flip, turntablist Nu-Mark delivers a punchy breakbeat take on Atómico, Jungle Fire member Patrick Bailey goes full-on boogie vibes with his Snake In Da Bronx Dub of La Kossa, and the record winds down with the dubby halftime flavor of Samual Miles remix of Biri Biri. Whether in the open-air club, block party or rooftop, this record is the sound of summer 2021!

'Billy and Bob Thiele Jr have been working together for some time, writing songs for amongst others Ray Charles, Joe Cocker and Axwell from the Swedish House Mafia.

During 2020 - lockdown and the protests around George Floyd and on behalf of BLM - the pair started working on an album of politically relevant covers from soul music’s past.

It was something that should have just been a diversion but the results were stunning and an album’s worth of material was recorded featuring amongst others Jeff Parker, Joel Ross, Theo Croker, Pino Paladino, James Gadson and Linda May Oh.

Bob and I had been working on the Flying Dutchman catalogue - Bob working with his father’s legacy for the first time - and he felt that this record could sit proudly and appropriately alongside that catalogue and that it should be the first new release on Flying Dutchman since 1976. Myself and Ed offered to release it on Flying Dutchman via Acid Jazz, a collaboration between two classic labels.

The first fruits were this stunning version of Curtis Mayfield’s ‘We The People Who Are Darker Than Blue’, where Billy is accompanied by The Larry Golding Trio and Blue Note Records recording artist and very special saxophone talent Immanual Wilkins.'

During the 1970s and 80s, the city of Boston and its environs produced some of the era’s most iconic music stars, from rock megaliths like Aerosmith and The Cars to disco and soul celebutantes Donna Summer, New Edition and Tavares. These artists emerged from Beantown’s thriving underground music scene to fnd global success, but what about the countless contemporaries who never made it beyond the local circuit? Native DJ, producer and bass player Serge Gamesbourg began digging in the crates for forgotten gems more than two decades ago; emerging in 2018 with his frst BBE compilation, lovingly titled Boston Goes Disco!

“I wanted to shed light on more obscure & unknown disco & boogie records outta Boston and the surrounding areas; basically small label and privately pressed late 70s and early 80s dance music from Massachusetts.” Turning detective as he began to track down many an obscure artist to license music for the album, Gamesbourg often found Boston’s legendary Berklee College of Music to be the common denominator for many bands throughout the years. “A lot of these cats came here real young to study from various parts of the country, met the other band members and wrote music and performed locally before fnishing their studies and moving on.”

With artwork paying homage to 80’s rap compilation “Boston Goes Def”, Boston Goes Disco! provides an exciting insight into the city during its most culturally fertile period, uncovering a rich musical history previously only known to those who were there.

As a teenager he started to collect Acid Jazz, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Disco & House records at the early 90′s. Soon, in 1994 he began to play music. Since then, his passion for music is expressed by playing in radio shows and many bars & clubs in Greece. In 2012, he was the resident DJ at David Morales M Ultra Lounge Bar in Mykonos. Through the years, he has played with many well-known DJs and Music Producers, among others David Morales, Giorgio Moroder, Eddie C, Rahaan. He also has produced many Guest Mixes, DJ Sets & Tracks for Record Labels (such as OBM Rec. and Melodram Recordings), Radio Stations (Le Rituel - France, TSONYC 'The Sound of New York City' - NYC-USA, Soul-Radio - UK, Mojo Radio -  Greece), Magazines (39 HERZIOS - Spain) and Blogs (AdventuresInDisco - UK). The last years, he is involved fervently with production, especially by editing existing tracks.
