Growing up in south Manchester, Mr KiFs' music interests began in his early teens when he played guitar and bass in bands formed with friends. A serious die hard metal fan, KiF never thought he would gain interest in any other music genre and then at the age of 17 he discovered drum & bass. He soon became infatuated with this sound and bought CD after CD of drum & bass albums and compilations.

2 years later with more passion than ever, KiF decided that he didn’t just want to be a fan anymore so he bought himself a cheap pair of Numark turntables and taught himself to mix. Within 2 months KiFs mixing had progressed rapidly and it wasn’t long before he invested in a pair of Technics 1210. As well as developing a keen ear for old school hip hop, he regularly impressed friends with his bedroom mixes but KiF wanted more. Mixing alone wasn’t cutting it; he wanted to make drum& bass. Getting a laptop and a copy of Reason he began to experiment with sound. 

Having no tuition in music production, only advice from a couple of friends who owned the software, KiF slowly started to pick up the techniques needed to produce the sound he wanted. A lot of the music made was through trial and error, not really knowing how to use the software properly. It would be a couple of years before KiF had a completed track he felt confident enough to share with the world.

In 2011, wanting to extend his skills further, KiF enrolled to study music production at Trafford College. Now surrounded by tutors, other like-minded producers and musicians, KiF is progressing at a respectable pace and his latest studio creations are available on soundcloud.

Mr KiF is surely one to look out for in the future.
