01 eleven.five & Meyce - Explanation

eleven.five's artistic journey reaches a new plateau with "Explanation", a visionary collaboration with new label recruit Meyce. A celestially inspired introduction features an extraordinarily beautiful lead theme. A gentle groove follows, and the lead chords begin to slowly crescendo soon thereafter. As the build approaches the main break, these chords reach a swirling, powerful climax. Just at the moment that the track feels like it will completely erupt, the groove is pulled back, allowing for the re-emergence of the poignant and hopeful lead theme, now backed by a gorgeous flute motif. The drop to follow allows the listener to finally achieve catharsis, as the chords and groove explode with energy and unbridled emotion.

Silk Music is thrilled to present Silk Royal Showcase 05, the fifth installment of the annual series, once again mixed by Jacob Henry and Tom Fall. The compilation is inspired by our weekly radio show of the same name, which is co-hosted by Jacob and Tom, as well as Johan Vilborg, Jayeson Andel, Vintage & Morelli, & Terry Da Libra. Reaching international listeners on Proton Radio, Digitally Imported, Pure.FM, Tenzi.FM, Dance Paradise, and other radio platforms, Silk Royal Showcase recently reached its 300th episode (http://www.silkroyalshowcase.com) and now often ranks amongst the Top 100 Music Podcasts in the USA on iTunes.

Carefully selected to represent the sound of Silk Royal Showcase radio, the songs included in the compilation range from the more pensive and melancholic shades of progressive to the more club-oriented, peak-hour material we tend to play at the end of our radio show mixes and live sets. Many of the artists are seasoned veterans of the SRS compilation series; there are also numerous first-time contributors to this year's compilation, many of whom have asserted themselves as leading talents in trance & progressive in just the past year. Every year on his "Only Silk" compilation, Shingo Nakamura contributes at least one original progressive track, which inevitably proves to be one of the release highlights. In 2015, it took the form of "Tribute, Chapter II", a follow-up collaboration with the exceedingly gifted Russian musician Stendahl. The Original Mix features a mellifluous soundscape, including a lush chord progression, gorgeous string effects, and, later, a timeless piano score. Our favorite moment is the breakdown, where the two artistic styles unite; specifically, Shingo's piano is joined by Stendahl's innovative and chilled breaks.

Terry Da Libra, who Shingo Nakamura himself recently described as one of his favorite musicians, graces us with the first of two inspired remixes. Global DJs and fans alike have marveled at Terry's marked growth in 2015, with hits like "Onirikon" helping to define his breakthrough year. His take once again showcases numerous midrange layers, soaring above a buoyant, flawlessly mixed rhythm section. Ethereal pads, subtle vocal effects, and an exhilarating new lead chord progression highlight Terry's exceptional interpretation.

Blugazer, an accomplished veteran who also experienced a watershed year, closes out the release with an uptempo, trance-influenced rendering. An awe-inspiring soundscape, featuring myriad melodic and atmospheric textures, is joined by a stormy bassline in the early going. Echoes of the song's original themes can be heard in the breathtaking breakdown, while more subtle, yet undeniably gorgeous melodic variations are contributed by the NYC-based phenom.

As we wind down the release schedule for 2015, a few standout tracks from Shingo Nakamura & Max Flyant's "Only Silk 03" compilation (released earlier in the year) are finally seeing the light, in full (unmixed) form. On the heels of last week's "Tribute, Chapter II" release from the same compilation, we enthusiastically present LTN & Kokai feat. Arielle Maren's soulful "Just Believe," including a brand new remix by venerable Latvian duo Blood Groove & Kikis.

Teaming up on our imprint for the first time since the triumphant "The Underground Sound," LTN & Kokai once again proffer a deep, emotive musical touch on the Original Mix of "Just Believe." To infuse the soundscape with a heartfelt lead element, they've recruited rising American vocalist Arielle Maren, whose delicate, vulnerable, and exceedingly beautiful voice lends itself perfectly to the tender lyrical content and surrounding instrumentation.

Blood Groove & Kikis, as to be expected from the groove & melody maestros, offer a more uptempo and uplifting rendering. A "vintage" progressive house rhythm in the early going carries the listener into the first verse and, ultimately, the thrilling breakdown, where the lead chords are met by Arielle Maren's poignant refrain. The phenomenal cast of musicians involved on this release have delivered a highly memorable vocal house single; we're extremely honored to finally share it with our community.
