An effigies (the Latin singular form of what is now named an “effigy”) is known as a representation of a person, and often serving a purpose for destruction in an act of protest against the represented individual. "in effigies." is constructed as an aural allegory for this physical process. The opening section is gradually constructed from an array of musical ideas that have served some function in many of my recent works, existing as a generalized representation of my own stylistic preferences. These ideas are then violently deconstructed until only a phantasmic trace of those ideas remain, challenging my prior preferences for the particular usage and development of those ideas.
