I watch the sun as it falls from the sky;
Soon there'll be no sign of reply.
Can you imagine just one day without its light?
Summer sunshine in June: exchange the dawn for constant night.

I watch the boats as they sway with the tide;
Soon they'll be lying on their sides.
Suppose the waters withdrew like a secret door ...
Shipwrecked sailors will know what to see on ocean floors.

I watch the catch being hauled to the quay;
Soon they'll be trawling back at sea.
But if the last ones fill the net, will they throw them back?
Large fish eat small fish and die, like ev'ryone, a simple tack.

Watch your own shadow lengthening;
Soon death may reach us on a wing.
And if our friends are but a few, who'll save our skin?
Humans leaving the Earth: so please inform the next of kin.

I am a fifty-something perfectionist and 'jack of all trades' with a tendency to write about the mysteries of the physical universe more frequently than love or disappointment.
 
I sing and most frequently play drums, electric and acoustic guitar, bass guitar, piano, keyboards, and alto saxophone. All my work is self-written, and recorded and produced at home. Lovingly maintained tape machines have been superseded by multi-track hard-disk recording (Emagic Logic 5.5.1 for Windows – already near obsolete).
