The Skatalites-Lalibela

La North East Ska*Jazz Orchestra nasce dall’ammirazione e dalla passione per la musica ska-jazz di tre giovani musicisti: Roberto Amadeo, Max Ravanello e Stefano Salmaso. 
Tutti provenienti da varie esperienze nell’ambito della musica caraibica (ska-rocksteady-reggae), e consapevoli del crescente interesse delle nuove generazioni nei confronti della musica in levare, tentano di unire le molte piccole realtà del Friuli Venezia Giulia in un solo e unico energico gruppo! Nasce così, nell’autunno del 2011, un’esplosiva big band che propone i più affascinanti standard jazz con le calde ed incisive sonorità tipiche della musica jamaicana, sullo stile di storici gruppi come Skatalities e Jazz Jamaica All Stars.
L’ensemble comprende persone provenienti da ogni parte della regione, da Pordenone a Trieste, e proprio per questo, oltre che essere un’”orchestra dal suono esclusivo”, rappresenta un importante punto di incontro tra musicisti esordienti e più navigati, in cui ognuno può dare voce alle proprie idee, esprimersi in piena libertà e mettersi in contatto con persone altrimenti molto distanti…tutti fattori determinanti per creare un unico grande contesto musicale in grado di spaziare dallo ska al reggae, generi in grande fermento, sino alle più ricercate sonorità del jazz. 

Grazie al video "Take Five", un'arrangiamento del famoso brano di P. Desmond, è nato il "featuring" con il trombonista di fama internazionale Mr. T-Bone;

---> Dopo una serie di live, ciò si concretizza nel primo lavoro discografico per la big band friulana: 
I primi di Maggio vengono pubblicati un E.P. realizzato in collaborazione con l'associazione Time For Africa, un video di un singolo tratto dal suddetto cd e un vinile dedicato al progetto "Mr. T-Bone meets North East Ska*Jazz Orchestra.

Mr.T-Bone è ormai considerato un protagonista della scena ska e reggae internazionale contemporanea. Attivo dai primi anni Novanta, ha pubblicato sette dischi solisti in tutto il mondo ed è costantemente in tour tra USA, Canada, Europa e Giappone.

Gli Young Lions sono la sua band dal 2006 e da allora hanno macinato migliaia di chilometri insieme e registrato due dischi. HEROES, pubblicato nel 2008, ha ottenuto un grande successo ed ha vinto il premio come miglior disco dell'anno in Canada; il secondo e ultimo NOTHING TO LOSE è stato pubblicato negli Stati Uniti il 7 Ottobre 2011 dall'etichetta di Chicago Jump Up Records e presto arriverà anche in Italia.
Il tour del nuovo disco è partito l'8 di Ottobre 2011 dagli USA, passando per il Canada, e continuerà fino ad Aprile 2012 toccando Italia, Spagna, Francia, Belgio, Olanda, Danimarca, Irlanda, UK, Germania, Austria, Svizzera, Slovenja, Repubblica Ceca, Slovakia, Serbia, Bulgaria e Macedonia. 

A Gennaio 2012 uscirà per l'etichetta giapponese Ska in the world un sette pollici e il primo The Best Of Mr.T-Bone, che comprenderà sedici brani scelti tra i suoi lavori solisti, pertanto si preannuncia per l'estate 2012 un tour tra Giapponese, Singapore e Malesia.

English version:
Gigi De Gaspari, a.k.a. Mr. T-Bone, is trombone player and singer with a very long musical career. Beginning in the late 1980's in Italy he established himself as a top trombone player in the international Ska and Reggae scene. His style and musicianship led to  performances and tours throughout Europe, USA, and Japan playing with such artists as Derrick Morgan, Willie Williams, Mikey Dread, New York Ska Jazz Ensemble, David Hillyard and the Rocksteady 7, Victor Rice, The Slackers, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, The Toasters, The Trojans, The Caroloregians, Dr. Ring Ding, Eastern Standard Time, Casino Royale, The Bluebeaters, Africa Unite, and many, many others.

Mr. T-Bone is currently a proud member of the Rocksteady Seven a Ska & Reggae combo led by The Slackers' sax player, David Hillyard. Mr. T-Bone has toured both the United States and Europe performing in the Rocksteady Seven. 

As band leader Mr. T-Bone has released six albums That's It (2002), Mr. T-Bone Sees America (2004), Strictly Live (2007), Heroes (2008), I Do Dub (2010), and Mr. T-Bone & Friends  Instrumental Session Vol.1 (2010).  All of his albums have been released and are distributed in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Japan.

He also works as a composer, with several Italian film soundtracks to his credit as well as commercial music for TV advertisements broadcast in Italy, USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

In 2006 Mr. T-Bone founded his own band named Mr. T-Bone & the Young Lions. With this group he released one album (Heroes) and toured all over Europe. He has also performed at the largest festivals in the Reggae and Ska music scene such as Rototom Reggae Festival (Italy and Spain), Three Floors Of Ska (NYC, USA), Slack Fest (NYC and Boston, USA), Riot Fest (Chicago, USA), Chiemsee Reggae Festival (Chiemsee, Germany), Lowland Paradise Festival (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Eurosonic (Groningen, Netherlands), Tokyo Ska Jamboree (Tokyo, Japan), Ska Town Festival (Madrid, Spain) Erromo Festival (Bilbao, Spain), Dance Ska La Festival (Rennes, France), Dour Festival (Brussels, Belgium), and Mighty Sound (Prague, Czech Republic)...just to name a few. 
 
In October 2010 Mr. T-Bone released his first instrumental album entitled Mr. T-Bone & Friends  Instrumental Session Vol. 1 on Chicago's Jump Up Records. The recording featured many great artists Mr. T-Bone specially invited to record with him, such as David Hillyard (The Slackers), Kincaid Smith (Hepcat), Larry McDonald (The Rocksteady 7), Roger Rivas (The Aggrolites), Tommy Tornado (Rude Rich and the High Notes), King Django, and many others. The release of the album was celebrated in Europe in the Spring of 2011 with a tour where Mr. T-Bone was backed in different areas of the continent by the most important bands of the European Ska scene, The High Notes, The Caroloregians, The Upsttemians, and The Gramophone Allstars.

Mr. T-Bone is set to release a new vocal album with the Young Lions this October, which will be released by Chicago's finest label, Jump Up Records and distributed in Europe by the German label Grover Records. The release will be followed by a long tour of the USA, Canada, and Europe beginning in early October. Mr. T-Bone will be backed during the North American portion of the tour by Washington DC's greatest Ska-Jazz band, Eastern Standard Time. The tour will head west from Washington DC through the Midwest,  and then north into Canada, culminating in a performance at the renowned Montreal Ska Festival. The North American leg of the tour will end in New York City, but Mr. T-Bone will  fly back to Italy to join his band, The Young Lions, to embark on a six month tour of Europe, traveling to Italy, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, and the Balkans.
