Always lovely to DJ a long night in the company of friends: props to my homie and soon-to-be-DC-Daddy, Mick M, to Aga and Matjazz for hanging out, to Diarmaid K's as-always lovely vibe, to disco-diva Victoria, to the jazz-spotters and tropical tweakers, all the dancers and regulars ...and especially to Aoife C for setting the dancefloor ablaze! - "showin' how its done west-side!"

after a nice 4-hour build from jazz to hip hop, afro-beat to dancehall, disco to soul ...the blinkin' mp3 recorder went and crashed! :( (Boooo!) BUT we did manage to record the last hour of the night :) (Yaayyy!) This recording drops abruptly into high-energy 2am funk and soul, and takes you through to 3am lights-up-wind-down.

Another truly beautiful evening in the bosom of the J.McGINGs mothership - following after the 7-9pm set from the town Jazz band, Ruan transitioned a midsummer's evening into a serious VIBE! setting up a happy house full of heads by 10.30pm, ready to accept the Southern University Jazz Ensemble's 1973 invitation to "come and dance with me, on a Samba Dee" ....with Donal Hoban on Drums and Mr. Whippy meself on decks inna sweet ice cream smash up, grooving' under the mirrorball swirl amongst the finest townsfolk and community of Saturday night dancers between stacks of speakers with the drums properly mic'd and eq'd in the mix..... Jazz Club? NICE!

41 sweet (mostly) vinyl selection box delights from cinematic 1967 right up to 2023 bangerz, spanning 56 years of retro-to-future grooves joining the dots of Funk, Afro, Dub, Hip Hop, Disco and Tropical beats, spinning into 2024 ‘round the world, across the decades, and up-to-date in hi-fidelity sound quality under the mirror-ball swirl on Westport’s most welcoming dancefloor.
