Specializing in polyrhythmic, overtone-heavy techno, much of his inspiration is drawn from the liminal states elicited by ritualistic practices of all sorts. He enjoys discovering obscure electronic music from across the ages and is building a reputation for his hypnotic, atmospheric productions. In addition to his personal musical projects, he is co-manager of North Of Nowhere Records and is a member of the Exposé Noir and Homegrown Harvest event collectives.

Bassywax es un dj y productor de techno Donostiarra apasionado por los platos y el formato vinilo. Tras un pasado musical académico, es la manera de vivir la cultura techno en diferentes países extranjeros lo que le asombra y despierta su curiosidad por la figura del dj a la par que termina la carrera.

Desde comienzos del 2020, con la idea de creación del colectivo @enigma.dss, trabaja en desarrollar la escena techno local en Donostia y alrededores, acompañadola de una concepción de la pista : un lugar de reunión donde reina baile frenético, la diversidad y el respeto mutuo.

Hoy por hoy, su colección de discos la dominan vertientes modernas de un hipnótico, acelerado e inmersivo techno junto con tools y cortes entre rasgados y tribales característicos del comienzos de los 2000. Se siente cómodo en ritmos acelerados y sus pinchadas suelen rondar los +-140bpm.

Como productor, comienza publicando sus primeras referencias con la serie de releases Dundeon Bits este mismo año: un techno acelerado y centrado en el concepto dj tool, con juegos de bombos y toques guarros a lo vieja escuela.

After playing a smashing set at our Hesperides event we thought it was time to ask Deets to record a mix for us. She is a Groningen based DJ who started out as a musician and grew fond of the electronic music scene over time. As a DJ she developed an energizing and versatile yet recognisable sound. This has given her an established name in her hometown and across the country. Within 2 years she earned herself residencies at amongst others Relate Radio and gigs at leading venues such as club OOST in Groningen and club BASIS in Utrecht.

By flowing in between music genres while incorporating prominent rhythms and groovy vocals Deets provides sets that never cease to surprise you.

The second release on Hypnotic Journeys brings together emerging Georgian producers and celebrated names from the global techno scene, weaving a story of tension, resistance, and transcendence.

Batumi-based newcomer Grenuy opens the compilation with a debut ambient piece that feels both intimate and expansive, a slow-burning meditation on space and emotion. His work is reimagined by Van Morph, a revered producer and founder of Khoros Records, who drives the track into deeper territory with an old-school, hypnotic groove.

NFNM (formerly Kapa), a young yet distinctive voice in the Tbilisi underground, delivers a piece of textural techno rich with movement and raw emotion. The journey concludes with a powerful remix by Tsott, founder of the forward-thinking Spira Records, whose deep and cerebral approach brings the compilation full circle.

“Friction” is a testament to Hypnotic Journeys’ ethos: uniting generations, sounds, and visions through hypnotic techno as a futurist statement.
