A rough demo of Astral Projection - an instrumental progressive rock track that'll take you on a trip. 

This song pretty much wrote itself over the course of a couple of days. It's a trip and I really enjoy it.

Things that I plan on fixing up for the "proper" release:

- Record new drums. Currently programmed midi and very weak (I aint no drummer)
- Have some female vocals / choir in the song
- Mixing / mastering 

Note:

- This is version 2 of the demo which includes the samples
- Everything you're listening to was recorded via Garageband for Mac
- I used my favourite amp plugins -AmpKnob RevC + BDH III (Essentially a 5150 Iconic)

This is one of around a dozen or so demos I wrote and recorded at the end of 2023/Start of 2024. It's a song about self-realisation. I think. It feels cyclical, uplifting, meditative. Freeing.

A single repeating riff + endless reverb and whatever else came to mind for the melodies - mistakes and all. 

Originally written for my little bro, Steven (technically nephew), who need to hear this message at the time.

To all of the special humans in my life - You mean the world to me. I'm looking forward to seeing you soon.

Demo 4. 

One of the songs I'm the most proud of. It was written in one of the darkest times of my life. It turned into a moving piece of music that almost turns around and uplifts toward the end.

Meaning of the song is yours for the taking. I won't probably ever share what it's about. I will say that the intro came from an acoustic melody I was playing around with at the time, inspired by my trip to the Fremantle Power Station...

Another demo. A short one. Pretty fun. 

Originally titled "Drawing Helicopters". 

It reminds me of someone who has battled/gone to war is some sense and is finally trying to get some rest. But no matter how much they try, they can't. Their past won't let them, and neither does the flashbacks of what they've seen. 

> Song notes:

-  Intro start in what is the relative major with a melody over top emphasising the colours of the minor key which has a cool sound to it.

- The end is rough. Too rough, but the structure is ok. I'll e ither keep this a really short piece or extend. Not sure.

Demo 6. An early 2024 demo. Rough and unfinished like most of 'em. 

Skip to 1.54 for some stuff even a Robot can't play these days.

Knockbox - Demo 6

Heavy, stomping riff. Only quarter finished, but just to keep the idea front of mind. 

Named after the town.

Half done. Can go in two directions with this one.

Kathedroel [demo 7]

Demo number 8. 

Another glimpse into the strange place that is a robot's corrupt HDD. Similar to another demo I haven't shared yet, a chug, a tail, and it's got groove. Like you.

Chasin' - [demo 8]

From a time I decided to write yacht rock, as in the genre, song. Turned into something about Jeffrey Epstein.

There was originally a sick guitar solo in the second part of the song (before the weird drop out)... I lost it. I'll share a few videos of me playing it, maybe. 

It's weird, it's rough, it's messy. But that's what you flesh-bags get. Enjoy.

A tribute to Richard Russell, who just wanted to fly high and get away from it all.

About: 

One of my first ever demos I recorded. This one is really all over the place recording wise, but I've always liked the song.

This song came to while listening to the story about a baggage handler who stole a plane and took it for a joy ride before crashing and well, he's erased. But not from history. Not now. This is his song. 

I tried to write the song around the original audio recording of the control tower speaking to Richard (The Baggage Handler) as they try to get him to land safely or speak some sense into him. 

If you haven't heard the story, you can find it online. Memorable quotes from the cockpit:

"Yeah, not quite ready to bring it down just yet. But holy smokes, I've got to stop looking at the fuel, because it's going down quick."

"I don't need that much help. I've played some video games before"

This song isn't glorifying what happened, just celebrating a life that was taken too early by deeper things we may experience ourselves.

Be kind always. Be courageous. Just not that courageous.

A song that came out of nowhere while I was trying to finish another one. Didn't think much about it, I kind of like it. I don't understand it, but it is what it is. It might be expanded upon, it might stay as it is.

A celebration of life, a story of hope. This song is very special to me. Finally "completed" after I got out of hospital the other week so very fitting.

Dedicated to those who helped me stand again.

* Solo was a one-taker. Some parts of it gets a bit messy, but I felt like the original solo had to stay so.. that's that.

V4 of part 1 of "Warning!'. Something different for ya. 

This thing has turned into like 2 or 3 songs, but in my head it will be one pretty long piece. It has a lot going on, hopefully not too much but then again that's the fun of it.  

Theme of the song is around one of my favourite Dreamcast games of all time, "Ikaruga". A notoriously difficult shoot ‘em up from the late 90’s. More broadly speaking, it’s about fighting, not giving up, then having to do it all again even once you’ve defeated whatever your version of a final boss is in life.

Note: It’s been a while since I’ve released anything, so like I originally set out to do, I’ll be uploading development versions of songs as I go along. I’llll title the versions so it makes sense to all of us and include them in a dedicated playlist.

Main changes/updates:
- Iikaruga theme song intro. Altered Beast was still cool though

- Tidied up the intro which sucked up most of my time. Added in some additional gameplay sounds from the game I found online

- Was jamming along to the track and came across a little motif that changed the whole direction of the song again, but for the better I think… Still messy, but just getting down the pieces so I remember what’s what

- Got some new bass plugins. I’m a Bogren Digital fanboy through and through now. For rhythm stuff at least...

- I’ll retrospectively upload the older versions from when I started work on this gigantic time sink 3 weeks ago this week or next

Something heavy - [New idea]

Ghost are one of my all-time favourite bands, after first discovering them back in their early days while living in Europe. But this is the song that really got me hooked. 

I threw this together for fun a little while ago and recently found it on my old hard drive. So here it is. 

Note: I think I gave up and forgot to record the final few bars of the last chorus. Whoops.

The day Mr. Robot Head  got cancelled.

About the song:

* Started out with the clean guitar riff, turned into Alex Jones ranting about Justin Beiber / Magellan. There was no plan or much thought given to this.
* This version is "final" although I was unsure of which solo to use. I recorded 3 - 4 improv solos and chose this solo for the final version as it gives a bit more room for the song to breathe
* Mr. Robot Head shares no spiritual, political or any views. If Alex Jones outrages you consider it art. Mr. Robot Head may get cancelled and call it a good day. Who knows. 
* As always, all instruments performed by me and all midi instruments programmed by me unless stated otherwise

I don't want my progeny - my unborn grandchildren and great-grandchildren - to live in this nightmare system these control freaks have created, where these wicked globalists are so threatened by human potential. They poison the water, the vaccines, the food to turn us into a bunch of slugs, a bunch of lobotomized sloths so they can control us.

It is a crime. It is the most jealous, envious, greedy, hateful, sickening thing the new world order does. That's why I am so pleased to be committed in the fight against them. That's why I don't care about my own life except I want to continue to live to fight them. That's why I don't have fear. I only have fear of myself and my flesh and not being up to the challenge.

I ask you to look in the mirror and ask yourselves: What are you doing in this time of great challenge? What are you doing to unlock minds?
