A true Kootenay local, Mraki [mer-aw-kee] is a passionate multi-talented mixed Indigenous queer artist. You can find her at shows playing a wide range of selections from hip-hop, rnb & afrobeat. To liquid dnb, dub, bass & contemporary sounds. Although this selectress has only been mixing for a few years, she has been dedicated to contributing & cultivating a prober vibe long before her step up to the decks. Whether it’s throwing a monthly hip-hop night, starting her own radio show, or strumming on her ukulele, Mraki has a genuine heart for the love of sharing & creating music in all mediums. 

This mix is special and is not only an extension of her heart but a jump of faith.
The music she chooses to share, listen to, or make, is just an extension of herself. It’s a part of her spirit. Mraki reminds us to not let the fear of not being good enough, stop us from sharing music with others. Her mix is healing not only for herself but for those who listen. Transcending us to an early morning dance floor filled with our loved ones.

Did a re-recording of my sunrise set for High Frequency a couple weeks ago. After shams I didn't know I'd have it in me to do another gathering, but once I channeled the energy I was feeling towards curating a setlist, it became so healing for me. As always, music with my heart forward. Enjoy.

When I put this mix together for my first Shams set, I felt really called to highlight a wide range of music that I've been loving. Although I love getting specific and creating a slow moving journey that way. There is power to be held in a set that takes you many places, while maintaining the continuity of a smooth journey altogether. I really wanted to communicate who I truly am as an artist. I love *so* much different music, so what better place then Shambhala to express that, to create a journey that isn't just one vibe.
