From the start, Philadelphia’s own, MrBatesPhilly, formerly known as Norman Bates, has consistently been one thing, lyrically mesmerizing. Growing up in Philadelphia, he established early on that holding a microphone was second nature. Bates began honing his skills by participating in numerous cyphers which lead to the development of his signature sound.
With his lyrically syncopated hooks and skillful mastery, he delivers an addicting flow that is uniquely his. In the urban arena, he is not only seen a MC, but a street legend.
Bates is a seasoned performer with tons of shows and many collaborations under his belt. The list of celebrities who have shared the stage with this lyricist are impressive by any term. From Gillie Da Kid, Meek Mill, Beanie Sigel, State Property, Black Street, DJ Clue, Byrd Gang, DJ Webstar, Ron Browz, NAAM Brigade, also personal friend, TV Personality and fellow track killa, E. Ness, formerly of Bad Boy Records and Making Of The Band. He has toured with Murder Inc.’s Ja Rule as his Supporting Act.
He changed his name from Norman Bates to MrBatesPhilly after he both scored music and appeared on A&E’s Bates Motel “Norman Bates In Real Life”. Signing artist Nationwide to major distribution, Bates became the VP of AVM Philly/Add Ventures Music alongside Murder Inc founder Chris Gotti. Multiple Showcases, tours, and other bookings successfully put together by himself. MrBatesPhilly has truly become a jack of all trades.
