Creation is Creation, out February 25th on Gravitas Recordings, is a philosophical inquiry regarding the alchemy of creativity. Inspired by nature, Somatoast makes use of the natural world to serve technical, musical purposes. Seeds pods make shakers and icicles are a percussive ensemble. This electro-acoustic fusion spans six original tracks and four remixes– marking another unique development in Somatoast’s ever-evolving sound.

Tapping in Boyd Hill introduces the album with its sweeping aural environments and grounding tapping that begins the story of Creation is Creation, which is that human creativity is the same force of all creation. The tapping heard in the track was recorded live in Boyd Hill Nature Preserve in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dawn embraces the texture of a seed shaker found in Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. By letting the naturally found sounds do the talking, Dawn comes off with a simplified yet refined sound design. Namesake of the album, Creation is Creation is a jazzy approach into the essence of this album. Featuring expansive atmospheres partnered with piano riffs and inspiring lyrics, Creation is Creation dives deep into exploration of the universe that resides all around us.

An organic reprieve in the middle of the album, Kokoa features distinct usage of primitive and empowering vocals before segwaying into Icicle that was inspired from the Texas Freeze in early 2021 with lush guitar lines, rippling breakdowns and grounding bass. Lastly, Ooh Yeah is an experimental glitchy departure from the rest of the album, highlighting resounding soundscapes underneath bouncing plucks. As a bonus, the album rounds out with remixes from Lapa, Edamame, Skysia and Kaya Project.

Here's the first in a series of Sacred Bass Sessions Exclusive mixes ~ audio journeys crafted especially for SBS listeners by some of our favorite purveyors of low-end vibrations, cosmic vocations and psychedelic gestations. 

Antandra is the moniker of future dub producer and performer Jacob Louis. His sound featuresbass-infused rhythms with suspenseful atmospherics and etheric melodies. Jacob caught our attention when his killer remixes of The Polish Ambassador and Ayla Nereo tracks were included on their respective remix albums. He also has releases with LostinSound, Mycelium Music and Pure Perception Records, and has played at festivals and venues such as Kinnection, CoSM, Burning Man, Unitus, T.O.U.C.H. Samadhi Equinox, and Welcome to Pangea. He says he creates his melodic bass music "as an offering of love," which sits right with us!

"This track was inspired by my time spent in Israel around the booming psytrance scene. People dance like it's their ritual therapy and smiles and hugs circulate the community. No divisions between people, everyone there for one reason, musical connection and dance. I wanted to capture that feeling by experimenting with the psytrance 4 on the floor beat and add an ethnic shuffle, that carries a middle eastern vibe with the instrumentation and melodic patterns and harmonic scales. I imagine this piece as a journey through the Negev desert."

Wei-Chi Field Bio:
	Wei Chi Field (Pronounced Way-Chee Field) literally translating to "protective energy field,” is an eclectic music project lead by Dan Yolles that aims to connect listeners to their own energy field a well as the community’s, via vibrant vibrations and infinite soundscapes, intended to bring about movement, deep expression and inner healing. Many of the sounds woven in the music are recorded from moments and experiences around the world, especially from nature and cultural hot spots that are then transformed into the fluvial beats and melodic motifs. But perhaps what makes Wei Chi Field unique is their element of organic/live instrumentation supported by Dan, Samuel Wexler, Benjamin Sunshine Shane Eagen and other guest musicians. This love infused music is intended to take listeners on expansive journeys that reach desert lands, underwater oasis, remote jungles and rain forests, the cosmos, and the depths within. Wei Chi Field gently cradles your energetic being, presenting your mind with sacred harmonies and intricate composition to grasp your body with deep down to mid-tempo bass rhythms.
