Chaotic Neutral Half-Elf Bard Ranger

Here's my wind down set from the end of Intellephunk's The Great Beyond festival. Preformed at The Headspace Collective's "Beyond the Pleasuredome." After a long weekend of controlled chaos running the main stage, it was really relieving to relax and let go with a long slow set of heady records.

I guess I'll finally get around to uploading my main stage set from The Great Beyond. Recorded in the late afternoon on the first day of the festival. 

I focused the direction of the mix towards the creation of potential energy as a sort of "wind up" for the whole weekend. I took my usual route of starting slow and ramping up BPM through the set. Keeping things as rhythmic as possible to maintain a very constant momentum. I  took this as an opportunity to showcase Steve's PA setup; 16 Turbosound TSW721s, four Martin-inspired dual 15" and four Turbosound Floodlights. All aspects designed and teched by yours truly. In that light I centered on a lot of wide-sounding dynamic, expressive, hi-fidelity pieces for my playlist.

Presented here is a home studio re-recording of my The Great Beyond 2025 noontime set Sunday at the main stage. I had unfortunately ruined all our board recordings by leaving the DR-40 set to microphone instead of line-in mode. My apologies to the other artists.

My intention was for a comedown and relax set. To bridge the gap between ~~ and Christian James. Taking the hyper high energy of the early morning sets and bringing things down to groovy rhythmic dub, IDM, bass music jams during the midday sun and heat.

Live DJ Set at Bremenhain

This ambient mix was recorded early in the morning on Saturday Feb 23rd at the Destination Fucked warehouse, Milwaukee, with a few close friends on hand. I put this impromptu set together as Gary was working the RGB laser "cannon" that was his MO at The Shop.

This was the last weekend I got to spend with Gary. My girlfriend and I spent most of the weekend with him. Touring Riverwest and Bayview. Talking about the future and how he was furnishing a venue of creativity and reinvention. He found purpose in helping those around him to realize their own capabilities to drive positive change. His warmth and compassion are unparalleled. I hope I can keep his fire burning. I want to #bemorelikegary.

Dave Energy - Live DJ Set at Dark Energy

Recorded early Monday morning at Even Furthur on August 12th 2019.

Four days of beats and bliss can take a toll on a person. I've made it my goal these last four years to provide a mile marker at the end of the festival. A finishing line to bring everyone home to. A place to rest, relax, and regroup. A tangent to pull the mind away from the never-ending onslaught of hard dance music heard throughout the weekend. A means to disassociate and let go.

I hope you'll find this to be as rejuvenating experience to listen to as it was for me to mix and perform.

Requiem For A Christmastown

I had a lot of fun working towards this opening set for SYSTEM with guest artist @deraout. I had recently found @danheim_music via my friend Paul and was interested in exploring more music and soundscapes derived from a Baltic or Scandinavian origin. Through conversation with him and @iosisdrone, I was able to build from this inspiration. This lead to the formulation of the first hour of this mix. Dark archaic pagan ritualism intertwined with modern elements of dub techno and electronica. This slowly diverged into more upbeat left field techno before settling into a driving rhytym of melodic techno to set Deraout up with a good amount of momentum to carry into the night.

Recorded live at the SYSTEM warehouse in Minneapolis.

Recorded March 7th 2020 for my 40th birthday party at Intellephunk's No Laughing Matter (Super Serious Birthday.)

This mix represents a a broad selection of records I've collected in my 20 years of DJing. I wanted to present as much old and new songs that have held a very special place in my heart. There's a lot of interesting twists and turns as I blend between as many themes and genres as I can in this two hour long recording.

It was an honor to share my birthday celebration with Jasmine. Thanks to her husband, Steve Centrific, for partnering with me on party planning. Thanks to Mike Gervais for providing a venue.
