Friday night is synth night. Having worked a full day in the lab, I gave myself Friday evening to build, synchronise, play and record a multitrack dawless synth hardware setup from scratch.
Everything gets dismantled Saturday morning so the house is back to a more peaceful state.

I have been trying to find relaxing sounds on Moog's new analogue synthesiser (the Subharmonicon) and I think I have had some level of success here. I have been experimenting with the settings on the Eventide Space reverb pedal as part of the signal chain to get a feel for the different parameters.
The sounds generated by analogue synthesis can get complex very quickly, so for this experiment, I kept the rhythm of oscillators one and two slow and simple. From what I understand, the Subharmonicon has two oscillators, each with two sub-oscillators, giving a total of six voices, with logical controls over relative pitch and volume, allowing a balanced and evolving sound to be produced.

The Eventide Space pedal is capable of stereo reverb and is tempo syncable to a master clock (in this case the ERM multiclock).

I'm not sure what genre of music this is, so if you have any suggestions for suitable playlists please let me know in the comments.

Enjoyed making this ambient tune using the Moog Subharmonicon and DFAM. Hope you enjoy it too.
Grandmother made an appearance to process the sounds from the Taylor 816CE acoustic guitar.
The digitally controlled analogue EL8-X Distressor was included in the signal chain to add some warmth and additional harmonic content.

ERM Multiclock
Used to MIDI sync devices and act as master clock.

Boss RC-505
Recording device tempo synced to 40 bpm.

DFAM
Standard patch card settings for kick-bass and snare were used to create the rhythm.

Subharmonicon
Two sequences; one slower than the other.
Both with small intervals.
Subharmonicon was perfect for this looping sequence.
Filter and amplifier envelope parameters were adjusted gradually to subtly alter the emphases.

Mixed on TASCAM Model 12.
Mastered in Logic Pro X using standard plug-ins.

I love to learn new things. New instruments, new vocal styles, new methods of expression.
Getting an idea of what's representative might take some time for an observer but I hope it's worth your time.
I guess in a broad sense I'm a producer.
I have a home studio mentality, where I have started with the best instruments I could afford at the time and over a few decades gradually build up from there.
I've been drawn to many instruments and artists, which has made me very inspired to create.

I'm grateful for the privilege I have to be able to play, sing and direct my music from every point of view.
It's an understatement to say that 2020 has been unusual for everyone, to say the least, but I'm looking to step up significantly in terms of music production quality and hopefully quantity. 
My music has been a serious hobby for a long time, but it doesn't feel right to leave it there. It just feels natural to go deep on music while I'm in lockdown.
