VIT, a producer hailing from Kharkiv, Ukraine, makes his debut on the ever-growing Mood Series with Spotting, the 138th release in the series. The opener, 'Spotting', has an active bassline that commands attention. It grooves effortlessly with crisp production, while the breezy, aquatic melodic elements conjure an island-like feel. The use of tribal percussion adds a primal edge while the chords here float like woodwind instruments, delivering a sense of calm and beauty that lingers throughout. 'Indistinctive' follows with a more taught and precise beat, setting the track's pulse with a rolling bassline. The busy chord work plays a crucial role in building the track’s energy, providing the main hook that balances out the intensity. The intricate interplay between the bass and chord progressions keeps the track moving, with a subtle tension that drives the track forward. 'Reflections' takes a darker turn, with deeper tones and a serious mood. The aggressive bite of the chords contrasts beautifully with the rolling bass, providing a sense of tension and release. For Our 16th trip around the musical cosmos we welcome to the controls a German artist who we have been a fan of for some time. With Releases on some of the top dub techno labels including , Greyscale, OHM Series and Vuo Records, we are proud to be able to host this mix from Armin Bender.

Armin is an artist who has been involved in the dub techno scene for 30 years, he is a passionate Vinyl collector, DJ and producer. An understated artist who goes about his work in a quiet and professional manner. 

This is summed up in his short but sweet biography - 

"Mind rave, goose bumps, deepness, groove, a smile on the face. Thats what its all about... No more words necessary, no history, no credits, no stereotypes, just the music that I love, preferably on vinyl... Peace!"

Kioku (Deep Forest Mix)

For over 20 years Martin Jarl was something of an anomaly in my record collection. At the turn of the century, I was largely buying records on the likes of Deepchord, Salz, Nurture, Bluetrain & Minus THX. I'd also been following the emergence of some labels pushing the more minimal sound for a couple of years, the likes of Out to Lunch, Playhouse & Raum...musik. After the closure of Atlas in Soho I habitually shopped in Smallfish; and I remember adding Martin's Weetabix EP to the listening pile. Upon hearing it I immediately bought two copies, and for the next two decades considered it one of my 'desert island discs'. 

By 2024 both copies were hammered and full of surface noise, and what started out as a tentative ask for some wav files, turned into an opportunity to re-release a track from one of my favourite records. Frankly I could've gone for any of the four tracks. Whether Martin knew to what extent or not; including a remaster of the title track in last year's V/A compilation was a really special moment in lempuyang's journey. Naturally I also asked him if he'd be up for recording a mix for the series. Martin is anything but prolific, and good things truly come to those who wait.
