Mr.C live at Superfreq in Room 1 at fabric on 20/06/15

This mix is a tribute to my dearly departed brother, guru, mentor & Godfather of the UK electronic dance music scene, the legend that is Colin Faver.

For the new kids on the block who don't know who Colin Faver is, he's the reason that you're dancing & enjoying the global dance music scene as we know it.

Rewind to the post punk era of the early 80s. It's 1982 & Colin Faver gives up is job as a commercial graphic artist & is working for a record shop in Walthamstow London called Small Wonder records, who signed the first Cure & Bauhaus singles. It was then when the first wave of New Wave electronic music surfaced & Colin was mixing up electronic music at the New Romantic Institution that was the Camden Palace championing music from Kraftwerk to Afrika Bambaataa to Visage. It was this music that directly inspired the likes of Juan Atkins in Detroit & Frankie Knuckles (RIP) in Chicago, who were without doubt Colin's American counterparts in the birth of House & Techno Music in the mid 80s.

Colin remained the resident at the Camden Palace into the late 80s as well as being resident at Pyramid at Heaven & Jungle at Busbys playing House & Techno as it had never been heard before in the mid 80s. After this came Colin's residency at RIP at Clink Street in 1988, Dungeons in Lea Bridge Road in 1989, Rage at Heaven in 89-90, Knowledge in the early 90s & played at just about every top club in the UK that played dance music.

Colin was a regular DJ on London's Kiss FM when it was no more than a weekend pirate radio station in the mid 80s & held down a weekly radio show once Kiss became legal for the best part of 2 decades.

Colin Faver is the reason I got started in this scene, allowing me to rap with him at the Camden Palace in 1984 & fully taking me under his wing, along with Eddie Richards in early 1986 as their resident House Music rapper, way before I was a DJ in late 87, when these two huge influences became my colleagues on the decks too. I have everything to thank them both for as they were my mentors & influences.

This tribute mix is coincidentally 3:03 long & was mixed using 100% vinyl from the 80s & early 90s, is emotional & has been uploaded unedited, warts & all, with pure love from the heart.

My condolences go out to Colin's long term partner Brenda Russell & all those who loved him. Colin Faver R.I.P.

Beyond The Clouds - A Tribute To Colin Faver by Mr.C

Here's my DJ set from my debut gig at Concrete in Paris on Friday 26th September 2015, which they kindly recorded for me to share with you all. Such lovely people.
I played for the first 3 hours & 40 minutes & Josh Wink played the second 3 hours. As I was opening up the floor, I started with a couple of disco tracks, then 80s deep house until the room was ready for me to pull down their trouser & spank their bottoms. 
It was so much fun & I can't wait to go back to play for them again. Amazing club, wonderful crowd & great hospitality.

I can't remember the titles of some of the tracks so there's no track list but between ourselves we can work out what everything is I'm sure.

BEFORE USING THIS GUIDED MEDITATION, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:

After following these guided meditation instructions to the letter a few times, I do encourage you to do this meditation guiding yourself without the use of this audio.
 
The purpose of meditation is to come to stillness of body & mind & in doing so to connect to a state of nothingness through focus & concentration. By pausing thought you come into direct contact with the Creative Intelligence of the Universe, the Absolute. Thoughts are usually about the problems of yesterday & the possible solutions of tomorrow & are a distraction from the moment, the place & time in which we really are. Meditation brings you into the moment, helping us to overcome the transient & to rest in the Absolute.
 
Meditation is best done within the 1st hour of waking up to start your day & again in the 1st hour or so after finishing a day's work before you relax, whatever hours you may keep.

This Mindfulness Meditation technique that you will now learn to do is very powerful and best for us in the western world as it brings us into touch with our 5 senses. When this happens we feel, taste, smell, see & hear much better as we're more focused & in the moment rather than being absorbed by distracting thoughts, which means we can complete our work in half the time as we're more tuned in to our senses.
 
With this meditation, we therefore start by bringing the body to stillness. The mind will not come to complete stillness if the body is un-still. Once the body is still we bring the mind to stillness. This we do by concentrating first on our weakest sense and then progress though the senses to our strongest sense. This way we become truly connected to our senses.
 
Before we do that, we need to relax & get our bodies into the correct position. 
So, firstly, sit upright on a comfortable chair with your feet resting on the floor or, cross-legged on a cushion. Do not lean against the back of the chair; let your body support itself.
Your back must be upright, dead straight, aligning our Chakra points which will then give us a better connection to the Absolute. Imagine your spine being connected by a piece of string with the string going from the bottom vertebrae right up the spine & out of the top of your head. Imagine pulling the string from above your head to straighten your whole back & make your back as straight as possible. Your Chakras will then be completely in line.
 
Next, hold down your index fingers with your thumbs. This is to hold down ego as ego comes through this finger.
The other 3 fingers should be straight. These 3 fingers represent the 3 Guna, Tamas (rest / ignorance), Ragas (movement) & Sattva (Truth) that are the 3 energy sources that make up the Human Spirit. Holding these fingers outward is offering the Guna back to the Universe from where it came.
With your hands in this position, rest them, palms up, on your knees.
 
Now roll your shoulders from forwards to backwards in a slow movement opening up your chest & Ethereal heart.
 
Then bring your attention to your ethereal heart in the centre of your chest & instruct it to get warm. Then instruct it to get warmer still & melting away the frostiness of the day.
Observe the energy that is life permeating your whole body. Be aware of the Self as the Observer of this energy being aware that we cannot be that which we can observe!

Once you finish the meditation thank the Universe for allowing you connect as all of the information herein, is Universal information & belongs to no one.

Enjoy this mediation, that will improve your spiritual, mental & physical health, as this will de-stress you completely & in the presence of no stress, you immune system will become much stronger, making you physically more healthy.

I started my set at 3:30am so this 4 hour part was until the sun started coming up, after which I went retro in part 2. I hope you enjoy the mix.

This is the 2nd part of my 9 hour set at Superfreq's 17th Anniversary at the Proton warehouse in Dallas TX on March 9 2019. Part 1 was 4 hours Upfront Dance-floor action. Part 2 is from 7:30am when the sun started rising so I went retro, starting with some Acid House & then swiftly into New York Garage & Deep House. After that I went into Disco, then Funk, Rap, Soul & finished up by playing some of my favourite Ska. We wrapped up the party at lunch time. What a night & morning that was. Simply magical. I don't normally upload other DJs sets on my SC but I'm making an exception with this one. It's done by the incredible Murf live at Superfreq a few weeks ago. If you don't know Murf you should. He's easily my favourite DJ in the world & was resident with me at the legendary Subterrain at The End from 1995-2002. Murf is the Techno Yoda. There's nothing he doesn't know about House & techno music & is a human encyclopedia on cutting edge dance music. Murf has been very ill of late & is in hospital having various types of major surgery. He'd been in hospital for over a week when we had Superfreq & got special permission to leave hospital for 24 hour to come to play for us. The word trooper is a least we can call him. In pain, drugged up to his eyeballs on meds & pain killers, Murf arrived half way through my set to rapturous cheers & applause from the London faithful who all know what hell he's been going through. This set turned FOLD club in London upside down & is a true example of what an amazing DJ & human being this man is. I doff my cap Sir & it's an honour to be able to put this set up on my page & also to call you my friend. I love you brother. <3

Here’s my Mr.C Early Works Mixtape, which I've mixed & released around my brand new Celebration Of Life single on Superfreq. To hear that go to superfreq.org

I mixed this Early Works Mixtape using only vinyl from 1987 - 2002. All tracks in this mix are my solo Mr.C tracks & remixes with only vocal collaborations except for theopening track, which I did with Eddie Richards as my first ever release. Therefore there's no Shamen, Bass Bureau, Killer Loop, Animus Amor, Sycophant Slags, Indigo Kidz or East LA Tek. Mr.C Collaborations will be a future podcast, as will the Mr.C Latter Works from 2003 - 2020.

Mr.C Early Works Mixtape

Mr.C started MCing in London clubs aged 16 working with LWR radio's Ron Tom, Jasper the Vinyl Junkie & Jazzy M. Mr.C then hooked up with Colin Faver & Evil Eddie Richards to became resident rapper at the legendary Camden Palace in London. Mr.C went into the studio to record his 1st house track with Eddie Richards as Myster-E which was released in August 1987. This inspired Mr.C to become a DJ so in September 87 he took to the decks. 
Mr.C has since organised, promoted & been resident DJ at: Fantasy ('88), Base (Dungeons '89), Release (91), Harmony (92), Drop (93), Cyclone (94), Vapourspace (94 & 95), Flavour (The End 95 & 96), Subterrain (The End 95 - 2002), Superfreq (Worldwide 2002 - Present), Super Disco Freq (LA 2010 - present), Next Step Forward Festival (Sept 2018). 
Mr.C was resident DJ every weekend (Friday & Saturday nights) at the legendary RIP parties at Clink Street in London throughout 1988.
Mr.C hosted weekly radio show Future Music on Kiss 100FM in London from 1993-2002 & has presented TV shows for MTV, FH1, VIVA & BBC. To say that Mr.C is one of the most iconic DJs in the world would be an understatement.
In December 1995 Mr.C opened the legendary nightclub The End in London & then AKA bar 3 years later & was lauded as one of the best night clubs in the world. The End & AKA closed its doors for good on January 24th 2009. 1 Chapter closes & another begins. Since the closure of The End Mr.C has been running his Superfreq events globally & is just about to host his brand new London festival, Next Step Forward Festival. 
Mr.C runs & promotes Superfreq events, which celebrated being 16 years old in March 2018 & ran monthly at Mr.C's club The End until it closed down in January 2009. Superfreq functions bi-monthly in London & does regular events in Los Angeles as well as bi-monthly events in Calais France & one off events the world over.
Mr.C is founder & owner of Plink Plonk records, co-founder of End Recordings & founder & co-owner of the Superfreq label, which is now releasing music prolifically.
Mr.C has recorded under the names, Myster-E, Unity 2, Nu Jacks, Bass Bureau, The Shamen, Mantrac, Somnambulist, Animus Amour, Killer Loop, Mr.C & Tom Parris, Mr.C & 16B, Sycophant Slags, Indigo Kidz & East LA Tek.
Mr.C is best known as front man, songwriter & producer of the pop group The Shamen with whom he notched up a string of top 10 hits including Move Any Mountain, Love Sex Intelligence, Boss Drum, Phorever People & the UK number 1 smash hit Ebeneezer Goode. These hits were hits the world over. The Shamen album Boss Drum went double platinum in the UK & they also won a highly coveted Ivor Novelo for Songwriters of the year UK in 1993. Richard's currently recording solo as Mr.C & is also doing collaborations as the Indigo Kidz with Affie Yusuf & with Noel Jackson as East LA Tek.
His latest album was released last year called Incidents, which is arguably his best work to date along with singles Stand Up, Shape Your Dreams & Ripple Effect all being taken from the album.
