Bellatrix - High Technology [Trancentral Mix 150]

I have played and seen a lot of 
indoor venues over the last 30 years.
Each one had its own charm.

For an event, a good venue is just as important as the programme.
Visitors want to feel at ease and the premises need to 
offer the necessary comfort.

A few months ago I played in a club in Cologne called the Red Cat Lounge.
I liked this place straight away, actually I would have expected something like this in Berlin 
but not in Cologne.
You could tell straight away that this club is an established techno venue,
they are simply different from the usual clubs.

This club offers plenty of space to chill out and relax in the front area.
If you look closely, there are lots of things to see under the ceilings and on the walls,
that sometimes made me smile.

What I liked best was that the music
on the dance floor is broadcast at a pleasant volume
so that you can have a good conversation while listening to the music.

The dance floor is approx. 8 metres lower and is connected to the front area via a passageway.

It is an acceptable size and has a rich, clear and powerful sound system.

When I saw my workplace, I really had to laugh.
It was in a cage and I was immediately impressed.
The technology in this cage is perfect.
Whether it's the mixer, CD player or monitors, everything is just as you would want it to be,
with the latest know-how.

I really had a great time there and would like to thank DJ Thor (Y.S.E.) once again
for the invitation and the good time.

DJ Bim -The Mammoth And The Red Cat

Working for a label has many advantages, but also disadvantages.
As a DJ, it's a kind of promotion and marketing,
which, even after 30 years, somehow still keeps you
in the now flooded market.

It is a constant battle to keep the label economically stable in this shrinking market, like tilting at windmills.
No sooner has a solution been found to one problem than the next one is on the table

But the best thing about this work is:
You can fulfil a dream for young artists.
The dream of publishing their music, accompanying them over the years and helping them to 
slowly grow with their music and maybe even find a place in our music circus.

There was nothing better than handing an artist their first record or CD  and seeing the joy in his eyes. 
Today, unfortunately, it's just a colourful picture (cover) or a place on a digital compilation, 
but the joy has perhaps remained the same.

I have never met most of the artists I have helped to build up over the last few decades in person,
They either live in another country or have given up the fight in this merciless music industry.
But I am always happy when I see one or the other name at some party in this world

But when you meet an artist at a party after years or decades of working together,
it's a completely different feeling.
Especially when you see the joy in his eyes when he plays his music in front of an audience 
and the whole thing works. 
You realise that your work is now done and you can continue to accompany him on his journey.
But now he has to fight the battle in our music circus on his own.

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to spend a lovely weekend with Orisma and Serenity Flux 
and play a party with them.

Before I go to a gig, I always run through all the possibilities,
everything that could go wrong.
From the journey to the gig, I think about everything.
Be it traffic problems with trains, planes or cars, or even a second USB stick,
in case one fails or the CD players are not linked.

Nothing is left to chance, and I've always done well with it over the last 30 years.
What I have never reckoned with, however, is that my better half
really drop out of a live act.

Let's not kid ourselves, Michiel (Drukverdeler) is the heart of the live show.
and without him I have a big problem.
In the last 12 years that we've been playing live together
this has never happened until this one day in September.

Michiel had a bad cold and I was suddenly faced with a major problem.
Although we had discussed this worst-case scenario often enough,
the reality was very different.

I had to completely customise this *live act* for myself and do it very quickly and 
and without mistakes.
I could write a novel now about what I had to change.
But I think I'll just leave the recording of the set here.
So I hope that this *Live Act* remains a rarity, because without my better half
it's just not as accurate and perfect as it should be.

Sometimes we feel like we’ve seen it all, we’ve heard it all, and we can’t be surprised anymore. Most of the time this is true. But not in this case. It takes a very special alchemy to reach the magical ingredient of a sonic intoxication, and this is exactly what Drukverdeler and Bim have created. This unique live act brings together two talented artists to push the limits of the artistic practice of Psytrance into realms not seen before.&#13;
 Andreas Binotsch aka Bim and Michiel Thole aka Drukverdeler (in Dutch - Pressure distributor), met in 2001 and realized that combining their talents makes a super powerful electronic machine that few can resist. Bim’s mastery of mixing since the 1990s topped with his samples and vocals AND Drukverdeler’s programming and engineering skills create a psychedelic monster that cannot be stopped. And to be honest – you don’t want it to stop! &#13;
If you heard Psytrance for the past 20 years you must have encounter Bim along the way. Being a prominent Dj from Germany as well as the founder of the monumental label Medium (later Midijum) Dj Bim has established himself as one of the leading figures in Psychedelic Trance. He has compiled more than 100 compilations for labels such as Millennium, Sony Music, ID&amp;T, Arcade, Time Warner, Universal, Nova Tekk and Beluga. His musical journey began in Goa, therefore, it is no wonder why he prefers long sets that transcends everybody on the dance floor to a different universe, while adding more colours, shades and layers of psychedelica that feels like meditation.  &#13;
Drukverdeler aka Michiel Thole comes from the Netherland and started producing music in 2004 as part of the project Mad Contrabender. After meeting Bim in a party in 2011 and giving him his track Universe, Bim has realized that this could be a beginning of a beautiful collaboration. He not only released this track in his Yellow Sunshine Explosion/Millennium Records, but also started to create a special laboratory where music experiments were made without any a formula or a pattern. Each time a new formation would come to life, and this has resulted into one of the most innovative fascinating collaborations out there at the moment.&#13;

This is not about the click-and play artists or djs. Every trip you will be taking with Drukverdeler and Bim is a new and fresh amalgamation of sounds, feeling and atmosphere of that exact moment.
