After the release of his critically acclaimed debut album last year, Regal is back on his own imprint Involve Records with reworks of two timeless, legendary techno anthems along with the remasters of the originals: Acid War by D.O.M. and Benozal by UMEK.

Regal’s rework of the techno classic Acid War by D.O.M. gives the original a twist and perfectly lives up to its name with an anthem-like acid line that blows of the roofs of warehouses it can be played at. Up next is a remake of UMEK’s Benozal - a groovy and hypnotic banger perfect for sweaty bunkers. Stay Up Forever hit Acid War opens the back side, an ageless Acid classic from 1994 celebrating its 28th birthday this year. Closing the EP is the remaster Benozal, the B-side of UMEK’s third Primate Recordings EP, a trippy techno jewel from 2001.

Regal is back with another rework – this time putting his own touches on Ram-J's timeless 90s-trance classic Nowhere Bells! 

By adding his unique personal twist, Regal transforms the original into a driving techno track with an energetic and intense feel that propels the listener forward, a high-intensity epic tune for unforgettable moments. The original track, a trance jewel released 30 years ago on the Madrid based label Quality Madrid, is characterised by a dreamy and somewhat mystic melody, creating a sense of euphoria and introspection.

As we all know, there really is no shortage of artists in the vast field of electronic music, especially in the German capitol of Techno that is Berlin. They come and go with trends and seasons, build their hypes, and eventually vanish into the social medial void our postmodern times have created. However, there are those ones which stand out, which stay stuck in the eyes and ears of the public, which play and produce themselves in the collective memory of our community. Tham is one of those. As resident and face of underground public favourites like SYNOID, Revier Südost, and Lebendig, in just a few years the young artist has proven that he’s one to stay, to watch and to listen to. Growing up on the dancefloors of Berlin – figuratively speaking – Tham’s artistic vision hails from and is always directed back to that very place which represents the crux of the matter of our entire subculture. His interpretation of Techno, his musical vision, lives on his drive to set people in motion. Pounding bass drums, complex grooves, and aggressive synth lines lashing through the crowd, taking their hypnotic effect. This is what Tham provides. Music ex machina, coming out of nowhere, binding the eyes, ears, and bodies of his audience to the floor, to the very present, sticking to their brains, billowing through their minds for hours, long after they’ve left the club.

Hailing from the Yorkshire Dales just outside of Leeds, Balrog has supplanted himself in the darker and grittier side of the genre with a focus on heavy unrelenting drums, driving bass and obscure distorted vocal. His tracks look back to the classic hard rave style but with a fresh injection of modern power.

This young producer has gone from strength to strength over the last few years with multiple releases on some of the most exciting techno labels including Green Fetish, Taro, Blacklapse, Måinmise, Archivio 01, Gobsmacked and Otomo Trax. These releases and unreleased tracks have received support from some of the biggest on the scene including Dax J, Rebekah, Paula Temple, Stephanie Sykes, Luca Agnelli, Gijensu, Kenny Campbell, SHDW & Obscure Shape, Duelist and many more.

2020 is shaping up to be his biggest year to date with huge releases lined up on labels such as The Meaning of Rave, Coup and Occult Rhythms. He has also just set up his own record label Khazad Records which will release music from the very best young industrial and hard techno talent in the UK and Europe.

Having been started by people of colour to create spaces of expression and community, techno as a genre has a responsibility towards its Black heritage. It’s time to live up to this. 

U4E - United For Equity  is a platform that aims to promote equity among artists. We want a future where Black representation is more than just a short-lived social media trend, we want to make it a reality. What better place to start than a compilation featuring Black and non-Black artists. 
With “MELT THE POT“ we bring together music from around the globe to raise awareness and funds for a shared cause. Leaving it open for future collaborations.
We come together as allies, as activists and a music-based community. Systemic racism is a reality, police brutality is a reality, lack of justice is a reality, and we‘re standing with the victims of this sickening system. 

Nevertheless, privilege allows white artists access to exposure, capital and audience within the scene that is denied to Black people. The music industry like the rest of society is biased and bolsters structural racism. Inevitably, that creates a systemic injustice we as artists have to address together. White artists have to start using their privilege, elevating Black voices and making music a place where exchange and education can take place. 
 
All revenue from the compilation will be divided between two projects: The Bail Project is a critical tool to prevent incarceration and combat racial and economic disparities in the bail system in the US. The other half will go directly to Black Lives Matter, the organization at the forefront of what is happening right now globally.
