Another song challenge submission, with the prompt of writing a song with a sense of ambient space recorded at the place you spent your summer. I spent mine in a summer residence where I had a lovely time, but for the first few days it was raining a lot, which inspired this. Superimposing a nice major melody on top of the sounds of rain was meant to echo catharsis rather than annoyance. The train ride there, and the dripping hose which drove me crazy also made its way in :D

Summer Rains

A track for yet another song challenge from Hugo Moroux's Discord server. The theme was simply "Autumn". For me, nothing personifies this time of year more than the music of Opeth, a longtime favorite band of mine. Hence, this track is a bit of a love letter to them. With a side dish of symphonic black metal for good measure.

The title (and the lyrics) are in Danish, meaning "The Dark Time".

This time, the prompt was to use vocals in a way that's unfamiliar to you - trying something new. I chose to do a rap! As you can guess, my gangster cred is kind of lacking, so go easy on me :D

For musical style, I went for a mix between King Crimson and Rage Against The Machine. Special thanks to Mams who supplied backing vocals - You rock, mate!

Song Challenge January 

I sang some chord progressions, then I reversed them, then I EQ'd them to sound like they were coming out of an old timey radio. 

Then I added guitar, main vocal, and harmonies. 

I think it's interesting that during the chorus the reversed vocals acted as like kind of a bootleg sidechain compression.

Unwanted Habitation

I tried to write a song dedicated to Chuck Tingle's fabulous tinglers, but it got too big.  Decided to hang out with this cat who knows they're gay, but doesn't know where they're going. 

This was recorded on my laptop mic, using lyrics written in part on my twitch livestream, the guitar is a children's 1/2 size hello kitty rainbow acoustic guitar, the voice is my own.  The sheet music in the image inspired the lyrics, and I tried to capture the meandering vibe but not doing any production.  I sang as loud as I felt like, and played the notes I felt like, and tried not to care where they took me.
