MY RUMINATION

This is a gospel Drum & Bass reinterpretation of Jungle Cats by 1991, originally released on the Dim Sum EP.

What drew me to this track was the raw, primal energy—especially the lion’s roar woven into the original. In the Bible, Scripture describes Jesus’ return as powerful and unmistakable, roaring like a lion. That imagery became the foundation for this remix.

I wanted to channel that roar as a declaration—not just sound design, but symbolism. By reshaping this track into gospel D&B, the goal was to merge jungle-driven intensity with spiritual authority: heavy basslines, urgent rhythms, and a sense of triumph that reflects Christ’s power and return.

This isn’t just a remix—it’s an expression of faith through drum & bass, where the roar becomes a proclamation, and the dancefloor meets the divine.

EP:1 brings two distinct shades. Opener ‘Keep On Searching’ rolls deep with a signature S.P.Y bassline moving slowly across sultry vocal fragments. ‘Unlimited Love’ brings uplifting summer warmth with an inviting male vocal lead, set and ready for festival season.

A ragga vocal throws back to jungle roots in ‘Soldier’, this alongside ‘Black Ops’ makes two surefire weapons for recruiting the early morning D+B troops. Title track ‘Alone In The Dark’ is a definitive room-filler bringing weighty bass, punchy percussions and a menacing synthline, assassinating anyone in his path.

A man entirely dedicated to his craft, S.P.Y represents leading D+B imprint Hospital Records pushing the depths of the underground sounds with class and consistency. Already support has streamed in from the scene’s best, including worldwide drum & bass executioner and Beats1 resident Andy C. We resume our mission to deliver more quality music, now with the labels first release of 2018 from rising names in the scene Revaux, with the title track 'Colours' featuring another ascending starlet, Charli Brix.

Colours itself has been a while in the works, but Revaux and Charli have well and truly out done themselves on this track, and as a label, we couldn't want to kick off the year in better way. With a strong message to boot, we don't think this one will be fading away anytime soon.

Revaux then went in on the flip 'Trainwreck', rolling out a bad boy smasher to really complete the release. We feel the Leeds brothers Joe and Ru are properly showcasing their potential with this single, and we're seriously proud to be able to put this one out for them.
