Almost ten years ago, back in November of 2009, before Let’s Play House was even a humble basement-bar and hotel-lobby party, Jacques Renault quietly released a four-track EP on Hole in the Sky, an imprint run by Canyons’ Leo Thomson and Ryan Grieve, called Favicon , that was both a snapshot of New York City’s glitter-dusted disco-revival haze and the culmination of the first few years of Renault’s career through the club circuit. It quickly became a cult classic and set in motion much of what followed for Renault; it added some fuel to the fire that was Runaway, his project with Marcos Cabral, and helped ready the stage for LPH’s entry.

Long out of print, we thought it’d be fun to reissue it in 2018 as a Record Store Day exclusive. We took the original sleeve and label designs and gave them a minimalistic update, and then added a fifth track to the mix, “Time Machine,” as a bonus. Originally recorded around the same time as the rest, it’s a dizzying, strings-ladden stomper that’ll have your head spinning.

I've always loved Starshine's Prelude classic "All I need is You" and struggle to mix it in since its tempo is quite dynamic. Really up and down and changes in the toughest parts to mix in, so I kinda figured I should make a quantized and uptempo edit for my sets. I think of how impactful it would have been to hear this played by Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage back in the day and how euphoric it would be to dance to it. I hope it brings a similar experience to an audience today <3

The 80's are back in full force on Alan Dixon’s debut for Tensnake’s True Romance imprint. The London producer is on the rise with releases on Lumberjacks In Hell and Running Back this year alone. “Motel 4000” serves as a further assertion of his prodigious talent in the studio.
Title track “Motel 4000” dishes out a full body experience with a powerful italo chug, vintage chord progressions and racy trance undertones. Watch out for the piano house choruses that sound like they’ve been pulled out straight out of a classic. It’s a big one.
On the flip, Patootie Tango is a like- minded cousin. Big disco claps and jazz funk inflections command proceedings here and make for a perfect early night heater.

New York’s indie disco crew is back with a new album. And it’s the right moment!
With new acts like Toro Y Moi, Sault, Parcels, The Internet - the funky, disco, old school vibe is big in 2020. 
And The Phenomenal Handclap Band fits perfectly in the scene. With their vintage, eclectic, colorful analog dance music. A nasty fusion of forward-thinking disco, yacht rock and gipsy soul.

The band has a history: Some of the bandmembers played in Mark Ronson’s projects and in Amy Winehouse’s last band. Their self-titled debut album on Gomma records 2010 made them many fans in the music scene. Back then the band took the road, supporting Bryan Ferry and Franz Ferdinand, playing shows at Glastonbury, Wireless, and Latitude… as well as getting praise from Sir Paul McCartney about their album on BBC Radio 1!
After their debut album bandleader Daniel Collás began to produce other artists in his studio in Brooklyn. The band paused. Now they are back. With Daniel Collás in the centre, along with new members: multi-instrumentalist Juliet Swango, and vocalist and synthesizer wizard Monika Heidemann. 

The new album is still analog dance music. Funk and Disco with an emphasis on raw soul, vocal harmonies, African percussion, fuzzy guitars and analog synthesizers. The album starts with slow motion disco (Skyline) that makes you feel you driving towards Manhattan coming from Brooklyn (where the band lives). Turning into dirty punk-funk vibes (Remain Silent) the switch to almost Italopop influences (Riot, Do what u like) that remind Rimini, the late 80ies. 
But the album has also other shades: some almost Zappa-esque moments or house-like drumparts. And, in the end: real hippy disco! (The Healer). 

The first 2 new singles from the album came last year on Toy Tonics. 
They became a favorite of DJs like Harvey, Artwork, Disclosure, Gerd Janson, Busy P, Demuja… 
Gilles Peterson voted „Judge Not" one of his favorite tracks of the year. 
They had a good start. Now its the right time for the album.
