It’s always good to have Nørbak onboard again with this brand new slice of plastic. Four cuts of precise and gymnastic techno aimed for the most advanced dancefloors energetic and intelligent at the same time, as we like. A side starts with Tell me I’m wrong a fast paced hypnotic exercise with adrenalinic synth lines running over complex rhythms, properly arranged in a constantly changing structure. Amongst them follow, textured flanged sounds running across the stereo field, shuffled beats and lots of space, the definition of how profound techno should be. Flipping the vinyl, B1 is Pure and Faithful, funk infused sequences constantly altered in shape, complex grooves and as always a profound structure full of twists. Last cut in this exercise is Unbearable Lightness, continuous and repetitive randomized synth lines spiced with lots of reverb over a well crafted drum workout, intense and spacious at the same time. Another demonstration of studio skills and sound design from this young Portuguese producer.

As we mentioned before, Siamese will not just be a platform for beautiful music but should also a playground for different kinds of art. As you might have already noticed, our artworks are images of hand-crafted pieces and with this Various Artists EP we are taking things one step further. Every track gets its very own artwork and all four artworks will be included as 30x30cm sized prints inside the first run of the vinyl!

The A1 cut 'Something In Between‘ by ourselves is starting off this EP. Right about one year ago when we worked on a first attempt of our debut album we didn’t quite came to an end a few tracks stayed with us. This is one of them and we felt the intro character of it is a good way to lead into this series. 

A2 is delivered by our close friend and partner Lehar who teamed up with Olderic, a respected DJ, producer and promoter from north Italy who is around since quite a while (check out his Cirq club in Venice). Their contribution 'Il Sole' follows the melodic route initiated by 'Something In Between'. 

On the flip side we finally get the chance to introduce Shiffer, a young and very talented musician from Basel. 'Drunk On Hope' demonstrates groove, emotion, depth and much more that makes it the perfect pick for B1. Watch out for more to come from him on Siamese!

Closing the EP on B2 is ‚Monkey Mind‘ by Toto Chiavetta. 2016 was a great year for Toto, what an awesome album on Yoruba followed by a trippy-afro-house Record on Innervisions. 'Monkey Mind' continues exactly there, straight forward Groove without any compromises.

SIAMESE003 - Adriatique - A1 Something In Between

If you think of the UK’s best techno’s most prolific techno labels, Soma Quality are right there at the top. For the last 25 years Slam’s imprint has put out consistently killer music from some of 4/4’s most leading edge producers, with the likes of Funk D’Void, The Black Dog, Surgeon and Schatrax all making frequent appearances across the imprint’s back catalogue. 

One of their more recent signings is Rebekah, the Birmingham-born producer who first cut her teeth DJing in the late 90s. After a busy touring schedule early on in her career she became a part of Chris Liebing’s CLR label, before Soma picked her up for an EP in 2015. Earlier on this year, they also put out her debut LP Fear Paralysis, an album spanning the breadth of contemporary techno.

Rebekah’s next drop on Soma will be an EP of remixes from Fear Paralysis, with the likes of Slam and JoeFarr reworking some of the album’s best cuts. With their return to Farringdon just around the corner this Saturday, Slam sent us over their hard-hitting remix of Rebekah’s Code Black to premiere ahead of their appearance.

What started as a one-off record in 2018 now becomes a steady project. With a second release on the ominous WSNWG imprint Rødhåd keeps building a platform for collaboration tracks that emerged from exchanging ideas and intense hours of working together in the studio. For the second installment Rødhåd invited Dystopian member Alex.Do to his Berlin studio. The two producers share a long friendship and now release their first EP together. “WSNWG 002“ contains 4 tracks, self-paced mindbenders evoking subtle mood shifts against a somber backdrop. The moment before everything turns dark is set to music here.

Dedication to details, attention to structure and a tireless pursuit of that specific and circular sound. The contextual element of ’Time Tracks’ seem to be placed in-between the most cordial music that Skudge has presented up until now, as well as bridging the singularity and adrenaline from the previous albums and EP’s.

We are invited into a palette of vivid mastery of details, brushes of percussion and narrowed basses that shatters deep. Pads and strings which acts as a foundation, evolves the music to a rigid composure.

A sonic narrative that seem to stem from motifs of the Earth, reflections of personal flair and moments remembered, dwelling on records collected. ’Ifach’ serves as an ode to the legendary UK imprint. Combining ’Time Tracks’ into a stark collection of studio sessions that features colleagues Daniel Andréasson (on Function) and Samo DJ (on Ifach).

One could argue that this is a territory proven to tick all the functional boxes, but Skudge manages to yet again display a highly personal take in a realm of conciseness.
