Classic motifs, familiar instruments, and... a quadruple-tracked guitar??? Yes, it's the definitive version of Maniac's Revenge! The track I started in a Discord call with the original Dusttrust team has come quite a long way, and has become a fan favorite. As many of you know, my last public release for this track was my unfinished WIP for the third version, and I believe it was Nick's MR III--and the incredible work of the folks at Ari's Dusttrust remaster--that inspired me to finish it once and for all. It took a very long time, and with almost 20 hours spent on it, this is the result.

This version contains motifs from many different versions, finished and unfinished. The key of version 1, the intensity of version 2, the chaos of version 3, and motifs from all of them and more. Putting it in the key of MR I not only suits the battle better, but acts as my way of paying homage to the track where it all began. It is my hope that fans old and new, of Dusttrust and otherwise can get something out of this track, and that this track will satisfy those who were taken aback by Dissension's lack of intensity! 8 months since the first concepts, 40 hours spent in the FLP--this has been quite the song to work on! It was one of those songs that became more fun to work on as time went on, instead of the opposite. The process was not rushed, everything flowed naturally, and all of it culminated in this, and I couldn't be prouder.

I've mentioned before how I owe a lot to Dusttrust, with my work for the project having earned me thousands of followers--and hundreds of thousands of plays. 5k is a big milestone, one  that is not crossed often in this community. Slaughter in the Spotlight is my most played song by FAR, and it's been due for an update. I knew that one last update would be an appropriate  marker of this occation. I know it's been a few months since I reached this milestone, but I think this will have been worth the wait.

Darkness envelops the room. You look around in panic--what's happening? Isn't it over? You've just watched your opponent turn to dust, surely the battle is finished? Suddenly, blinding  spotlights switch on. As your eyes adjust, you notice you seem to be on a stage. A figure emerges from the fog, and with a tap of his boot, thunderous music begins to blare from the sound system behind him. The crowd starts to roar: you can recognize the faces of those you've killed among them. It's become apparent that the battle is far from over, but now's not the time  for frustration; you and him have a show to put on, and the audience is craving blood!

THE update.
Misfortune was basically the song that got this account started and I had an update planned for months ago.
Too bad that version was just another FLP edit.
THIS, however, is made from the ground up with probably the most effort I've ever put into a track.
My intentions were to give this track the update it deserves. And, I believe that I made those intentions clear.
Oh yeah, the instrumentation idea of the flute intro was by @sasterdadudester in his unused cover.
