I stumbled on this Ember Island cover of the Jack Ü/Bieber collab "Where Are Ü Now" and fell in love instantly. I've been experimenting with some different rhythmic formats and different instrumental styles that incorporated some more organic drumming and basslines with more "synthetic" stuff and when this fell on my lap I thought it made perfect sense to take some of the more uplifting, organic material I had written and put it together with this really vulnerable, personal vocal cut from them. It's intended for moments on a train or a bus where you forget where you are for a sec and you think back to something that happened 5 years ago.

A few years ago, I was broken up with by someone I'd been with for two and a half years. It honestly broke me. I thought that we'd be together for a lot longer, but she couldn't handle being with me anymore. I don't really blame her, not any longer, but there's still an unresolved ache from time to time. This song reminisces on past times while still looking to the future and what I have now
