I randomly found this beat on a DJ record pool website back in 2010. The original song is called “What’s Not To Love” by Dwele; and it’s off his 2010 album ‘W.ant W.orld Women’. I loved the track so much that I downloaded and recorded over it right away. The track also features vocals from Tupac Shakur that were taken from his 1992 movie “Juice”.

Apparently I was dealing with some bullshit in 2010 and I vented all over this instrumental. I downloaded this beat off of limewire so I have no Idea who the original artist or producer is. I’m pretty sure it was Lupe Fiasco though. I’m sure one of you guys will tell me.

Guidance [2010] (Unkownn producer)

This instrumental is originally from a song called Def Jammable. The song is written and performed by the legendary Reggie Noble AKA Redman; and produced by the mastermind himself DJ Khalil who is a former Aftermath Records staff producer and good friend of Dr. Dre. As you may notice: I put a little extra effort forth into killing this beat. That’s because the beat is nasty as fuck and I needed to out do it. Welp, I certainly tried.

This beat comes from a “Vast Aire/Cannibal Ox” record. The title of the song escapes me because I made this track so long ago. It sounds like El-P could have produced it but I’m not entirely sure.

This Moment [2010] (Unknown Producer)

This particular song is one of my personal favorites; mainly because I had a lot of fun writing it and I was actually semi satisfied with the reaction it got (which is rare for me). The beat was produced by DJ Khalil and it is off of the GTA China Town Wars sound track.

Shout out my mom singing Adlibs in the very, very beginning of the track.. Shout out mjNichols for making this incredible instrumental. It brought something out of me that day.

The year was 2008; and I had just finished laughing hysterically at a very well written episode of the Boondocks. As the show was ending, I thought to myself “man, what song is that; that they’re using for this soundtrack?”. The song turned out to be “Rock N Roll Gangster” by Aalon. I found the song, sampled it, wrote the lowest effort lyrics of my life, and everybody.. went.. bananas.. I still don’t understand why people love this song to this day.. but aight, dope!

Rock N’ Roll Gangsta [2008] (Prod. MSCHF)

In 2006, or maybe even before that, I went on an obscure music downloading spree on an old computer application called “Limewire”; because sampling was a big deal back then. By 2007 I had an overflowing lexicon of weird ass music on my computer; and one day I was in the mood to make some wild shit. As I was scrolling through my iTunes library I came across a file that read “Transformers Theme .mp3” and I was like “yep!”. The beat came out so good; I had to write a song to it.

This one is from the 2006 vault. Honestly I can’t remember where my head was at when I made this; but, the “Metaphor, Meta-Sin” line is a quote from the first track off of the Saul Williams “Amethyst Rock Star” album. That song is called “La La La” and he ripped that shit.

One Day/Django [2016] (Prod. !llmind)

In 2015 I was brainstorming ways that I could possibly go viral. I went to google for advice; and typed in something absurd like “the most popular thing in the world right now”. To my amusement, my nephews favorite video game “Minecraft” was number one in the search results. “Welp”, I thought. “I guess I’m writing a song about Minecraft then”. I did absolute my best to make sure the lyrics didn’t appeal to small children only; so I made the tone as dark as possible. When it was all said and done, I had an entire song about every child’s favorite video game character surviving in them cold streets. If that wasn’t enough, I modeled the whole song after Kendrick Lamar’s 2013 masterpiece “The Art of Peer Pressure”. You can watch the video here at www.youtube.com/MischiefAgain
