Photographer Vince Donovan took instant portraits of some of Megapolis sound artists and presenters. This is his 1978 Polaroid 8 x 10 Land processor as it pushes an undeveloped sheet of film through the rollers. Vince is overheard giving a bit of explanation before you hear the Volkswagen-esque beep of the timer.

The Currents New Media “Currentsoundscapes” cycle five theme “Embroidered” invited contributors to weave together sounds from the four previous soundscape cycles, incorporating sound art from other project contributors. “Interwoven Beings” features excerpts from Jar of Sparkle - “Behind the Door” (week 4 “mine own hands”); LØBØG∆MM∆® “CS4.0” (week 4 “mine own hands”); and Sara Marinelli “Sheltered” (week 4 “mine own hands”), in addition to a range of field recordings from Peru and Myanmar.

A final compilation of the Digging In curated playlist with an introduction from Megan Jones.

Thank you to all the artists who participated from around the globe. We had a total of 68 sound art submissions over a period of 5 weeks, all guided by weekly themes. These short works came not only from artists in the USA (Alabama to California and places in between) but also from Singapore, Brazil, and Japan.  

Gratitude to the wonderful curators as well. Fernando Hernandez, Leila Day, Maja Thomas, and Sxip Shirey. Each curator brought a different sonic aesthetic to this collection, yet they are united by an abiding interest and affection for humanity, not audiences. They looked for the handwork in these short sonic stories.
