In this track I layered different octaves of similar sounds to create the main bass sound. I also used a similar low EQ to the previous track, but with drums occupying a different frequency range, meaning I didn't have to use the phase inverted gating on this track. I processed the bass with saturation, filtering, EQ and compression. The bass is also sidechained to the arpeggio to help that sit in the mix, as the arp stuggles to sit in the mix without the bass sounds ducking.

Track 4

This is an updated version of the previous track. After listening back to the mix of the first version I noticed errors with the mix that needed to be improved upon.

I used phase inverted gating on the bassline to stop that and the drums competing for the same space.
The EQ on the bass bus has a much lower low cut frequency to allow for more bass to come through in the mix.
I have also layered some extra lower sounds for the bassline to help fill out the gaps that were audible in the first version of the track. 



Track 3 V2

This track has a very big, sustained bassline. To keep the sound interesting I used some filter automation to give the sound some movement.

Track 3 V1

This track was much more stripped back than the others in the project. I wanted to make a simple bass sound that suited the track, but still had some interest. I did this by using out of phase sine waves to create a wobbling effect, which changed rate with the pitch of the note.

Track 2

This was the first track I created within this project. 
I created the bass sound by layering differnt FM8 patches and routing them to a Bus. On the bus I used processing techniques I had learnt from the previous sounds I had made. 

Track 1

This is a track that I produced prior to starting my project. It has a  different feel to the other tracks I have made within project and doesn't have a focus on the bassline, which is something I wanted to improve on within my own productions.

Pre Project Track

This is another sound I made in serum, but this time using my own wavetable that I had created as the bass of the sound.

The clip of the sound with drums is to show how the sound could work in conext with a track.

Bass 3

In this project I wanted to improve my bassline sound design, as the tracks I had been making previously didn't feature basslines or sounds as a key part of the track.
I have a series of small clips of projects where I have focused on only making bass synths. I have also incuded clips of tracks that I made using the techniques that I learnt and improved upon when working on the only bass projects.

Bass 2

This is a sound I initially created in FM8, I then processed the sound in different ways to experiment with what effects and timbres I could create with different effects.

I Iiked the effects the amp simulator and guitar pedals gave to the sound. I've also found how sounds can sound weak on their own, but by layering these sounds they can create a thick and interesting timbre.

Bass 1

This was a small sound I made using Serum. I was aiming to create a raspy/grimey bass sound.
The different clips are different bounces of the patch as it sounded different each time I played it. 
The patch used small amounts of wavetable and filter automation to give the sound some movment. I also used some distiortion to enhance the top end.

This is a series of tracks and experiments of mine that I have made as part of my drum & bass sound design project. 
Each track here is shown in date order to show the journey and developments I have been through whilst doing this project.
