Hey friends! We are happy to present @fatnotronic and his bustling beats for this episode of our beloved Yamcasts.

Re-editing classic Brazilian boogie/disco funk songs has caught the attention of many around the globe, which has catapulted Fatnotronic to perform in some of the biggest and most renowned festivals in Europe, as well as countless of nightclubs.

We also caught up with him to have a little chat, read the interview here:

// What's the idea behind the mix? And which is the track you wanted to play the most?

It’s a mix of my own research and some promos that I’ve been receiving during the pandemic and some new remixes.


// Which track did you want to play the most and why?

It’s been one year already without gigs... so I want it to play it all tracks i have hahaha.


// What tracks have you been digging which are not included in the mix?

I’ve been digging a lot Altin Gun, Kraak & Smaak, Shina Williams and the new things from DEEWEE, Ed Banger, Partyfine, Multi Culti, Codek.


// We know that you tour around Europe regularly. What difference do you feel between playing for Brazilian and European crowds?

The main thing is that people in Europe is more open minded and the scene is also more concrete. But both places have good vibes.

// Tell us about your upcoming releases. Do you balance your creativity with other disciplines besides music?

There’s been loads of remixes requests during pandemic...  like Kraak & Smaak, Nu Azeite, Rita Lee, Little Animal, Gohu mostly of them i did with my friend Emmo.

My radio show is almost one year old... “TEA WITH ME AND FRIENDS RADIO SHOW” at www.veneno.live every Friday, inviting cool artists like Joe Goddard, Digitalism, Yuksek, Tim Sweeney, Voilaaa, Paula Povoa & Jerge, OsGemeos, Irfane, Poolside, Thomas Von Party, In Flagranti and many others... it’s been great to make the weekly show cuz you get in touch with friends via radio.

And also I'm working in some new music for myself, Phillipi & Rodrigo and 2 new musical projects. Btw I'm cooking a lot and walking my dog 3 times a day, pandemic life. Hopefully this will end soon and we will be able to celebrate again

I can honestly say this has been one of the very worst, bizarre, shit scary and at times wonderful years of my life where the important stuff all became so clear and much more important, and the shit stuff became obvious for what it always was…

Well I really can’t imagine anything more exciting than signalling better times ahead by spending a weekend in a field with my brothers and sisters from Sancho Panza at their annual dancing jamboree Campo Sancho!!!

The thought of being together, dancing to music, talking and hanging out for a whole weekend actually gives me the total tingles.

I love Jim and Matt. They are without a doubt two of the good guys of the music and events industry. They do everything they do with passion and for the benefit of people. They love music and their energy spreads into everything they do. Decades throwing parties at London Carnival, Glastonbury and beyond stand testament to that.

And when you play or dance at one of their events you can feel something else truly special. Something called community. Many of their people have also been with them for decades. People know each other. People love each other. The feeling is strong!

Now it’s time to dance, drink, laugh and love again.

I got so excited about the prospect of playing live again to real people in a field surrounded by passionate people that I did an exclusive mix for Sancho to celebrate life. I hope you enjoy the music and will dance with me.

Hola a todxs!! So happy to be back to Brasil after my amazing first experience playing at Mareh last year. In this stay in Sao Paulo, I had the pleasure to play at @garagedisco which was one for the books, and I'm happy to have shared such a special night with this amazing crew. Apart from also playing at Exotica Dance Club with my good friend @kurc and Caracol Bar. Fell in love with this incredible city.

Luckily, the guys from Garage Disco recorded my set, so here it is! 

Some good old classics and some new stuff too, made up for a great and sweaty night ender. Real vibe and big smiles on everyone's faces <3

Finally! The live recording of such a beautiful night/sunrise we spent in Atlixco, Mexico, with the Amores Experience family celebratin Dia de los Muertos in a magic way. So happy to have performed there, the energy was surreal, from the venue, to the people, to the other artists. It's been definitely one of the highlights of my Mexico tour and even my whole year. Music is a bit upbeat, but the context definitely allowed it.

Since early 2000s, Pierre-Alexandre Busson, aka Yuksek,
has never stopped experimenting, finally becoming one of
the most important producers in electronic music
scene. At once a DJ, world renowned for his energetic
disco/house mixes, a prolific remixer (Gorillaz, Lana
Del Rey, Breakbot, etc.), a producer, a label founder, a
composer of film soundtracks, and radio host, Yuksek jumps
between projects with an enthusiasm that betrays his
deep love of music and his jack-of-all-trades approach.
After his formative years spent in the wild rave scenes of
the 90s, Yuksek has gone on to impose himself as one of
the most brilliant inventive forces in the turbulent
music scene in Reims (The Shoes, Brodinski), giving a
new lease of life to the French Touch. Yuksek marked himself
out from the crowd in 2009 with Away From The Sea.
His first album pulsed with metallic melodies and uppercut
beats, blending rock and electro seamlessly.
In 2016, his third album, tellingly entitled «Nous Horizon»,
Yuksek opened up his musical universe to disco,
broadening the genre further and ushering it into the present
age. The album was the spark he needed to gain widespread
media attention, and Yuksek has kept up the momentum,
moving from one project to another, even releasing
with labels such as Classic Music, Glitterbox, Toy Tonics,
Sweat It Out, Kitsuné, Domino… From Netflix or Cannes Festival
movie soundtracks to the sunny compilations of his label
Partyfine, or his talents as a producer for French popstars
Juliette Armanet and Clara Luciani to Destiino, a dark
and minimal side-project, Yuksek has found a playground to
match his taste for new experiences and discoveries.
A journey that is perfectly summarized by his two flagship projects:
his album Nosso Ritmo, released in early 2020, a fusion
of groovy disco and Brazilian sounds and the Dance’O’Drome
radio show on Radio Nova that brought him right back
to the dancefloor. Yuksek not only gets French medias’ support
: his work has been validated by BBC Radio1, BBC 6
Radio, Billboard, Mixmag Asia, DJ MAG UK, KCRW, NME,
Complex, Dazed, The Guardian, Vice, Worldwide FM…
Dance’O’Drome, Yuksek’s fifth album due spring 2023, expands
the universe created with Nosso Ritmo. Carrying on his
love affair with Brazil, playing with percussions, putting the finishing
touch on a powerful dance mix combining flights of
disco, explosions of punk-funk, and feverish italo-disco sounds,
this homage to the filtered house label Roulé is full of malicious
acid loops and nods to Metro Area or languidly Balearic
beats. An album that echoes, through its eclecticism, the
inspirations drawn from his radio program Dance’O’Drome.
Thanks to this DJ mix show, rare on the French radio spectrum,
which has already proven itself a success, as well as the hypnotic
theme he composed for the series «En Thérapie», and the
soundtrack for the movie «Zaï Zaï Zaï Zaï» this DJ and producer
has found a broad audience, going well beyond his
initial expectations. Whether traveling to festivals or recording
in a studio, behind the mic at Radio Nova or creating the
soundtracks for our favorite television series, Yuksek moves from
project to project with a curiosity and enthusiasm that
is both contagious and yet full of modesty. Yuksek clearly
has no intention of putting a stop to his crazy and hedonistic
race to greatness. The proof, Santas Almas Benditas, the first
single from his new album, sung by Luedji Luna, starts with percussion
before exploding in a voluptuous and sensual dancefloor
bomb, and is the clear demonstration that Yuksek
has decided to make us dance all throughout 2023

PillowTalk (Michael Tello DJ Set) Live @ Crew Love Art Basel 2017

So on the first weekend that the lockdown and social distancing measures were announced here in Scotland, I went downstairs to my basement studio as I often do for a wee music session. 

That night however I was charged with a weird energy and my thoughts were packed with what was going on. My emotions were also running high still from an amazing first few months of 2020 starting with Mareh festival in Brasil followed by a visit to Rio and Sao Paulo for more high tempo and full power emotional gigs. On coming back to Scotland I played my first night at the new venue in my city, Kings. It was very special. Then it was straight back to Rio for my first ever Carnaval  followed by a weekender in the USA -  NYC, Miami and finishing up at the excellent Okeechobee festival playing b2b with my disco brother JKriv and the Gouranga clan. Phew!
 
Then next thing I knew…I was in my basement studio. Everything was about the virus and what was to come, all future plans on ice. My income had gone from healthy to zilch. And there was whisky to be drunk and a mix to be made. So that’s the backstory. I poured my heart and soul into it that night. It felt right. It felt good. It featured moments still fresh in my mind from all those parties that kicked off 2020. I hope those people can feel and remember the moments the same way I can. I put them in for you and for us to share and remember being together as one. As such I wanted it to be a global mix. That is, one that featured music from all around the world: Asia, South America, USA, Canada, Africa, Europe, Australia, China, India, New Zealand, Turkey, Israel and more! Many of it is from friends. People I am fortunate enough to meet on my travels, spend time with and call friends in this wonderful world of ours.
 
I wanted it to be a mix that did something to help others. I know so many musicians, DJs and other people who are going to be in such deep trouble because their livelihoods just stopped. And because so many of us didn’t realize how much we music people have become dependent on live gigs and performing in a digitally driven music world. And this is before we even start to think about people who are way worse off than us music people…. Vulnerable people, refugees, homeless people in every city who need our help urgently. I also knew from the start who I did this mix for. I did it for Gouranga because they have supported what I do and my vibe for some time now. It’s nice to have someone who gets it and supports you. They are good people and I knew they would share my values and direction with the mix.
 
So here it is. And here we are now. Stuck in this crazy situation and in this fast changing world. I hope you enjoy the vibes and my music. I hope you are safe and being kind to others. And most of all if you dig it I hope you will give something if you can afford it to help others in worse situations. People really do need your help. And we must be bigger than this, or the bastards will win. Below are the links to our chosen list of charities. Or just choose some charity you prefer. But please be kind to them.
