Katutura Blues ft. EDG.MIA (studio version)

ABAFANA is an anthem in celebration of Queer Masculinities.

It addresses the patr*archy directly by calling out uMnumzane (Sir/Mr) and telling him that “Abafana abasafani” (the boys ain’t what they used to be) and that’s okay; in fact we’re living for it.

I featured Jacques Nashilongweshipwe Mushaandja (Namibia)who echoes the call in the chorus and sprinkles some dancefloor lingo in the interludes (Teka teka nene). And sampled the incomparable FAKA’s “Pipi” in verse one.

In Verse 2 I incorporated a version of the chorus of the 2019 Amapiano hit “Labantwana amaUber” by Semi Tee, where I remixed their lyrics for a more queer play on words
