The NTS resident Corin Ileto not only recorded a fresh podcast but is also on her way to Kaunas, Lithuania, to perform at a new festival called Optimismo. It’s a joint venture between Digital Tsunami, a fellow promoter team Ghia and the program of Kaunas - European Capital of Culture. The festival scheduled for June 3-5 is part of Modernism for the Future, a special branch dedicated to establishing new relationships with urban heritage. Corin seemed like a perfect choice for the event’s lineup - here’s why.

The Filipina-Australian electronic producer, composer and performer working in the field of performance art, sound design, theatre and club spaces, is interested in her cultural connections to the Philippines, her mother’s birthplace and the landscape connected to it. “I’ve already begun to hear how it is influencing my creative output. Over the next year, I hope to produce an entire album which explores this connection”, said Corin in her recent interview with 15 questions. We asked her some more questions about that while listening to her selection.

El electro que ensaya Wachita China como productor surge de la posibilidad infinita de intertextualidad que habilita el sampleo. Aislar voces, bajos o beats, -en suma, citar y recomponer tracks de otrxs- es la operación que caracteriza a sus producciones, en las cuales  iguala hip hop hitero, con ghetto subterráneo o recientemente voces latinas del trap o del funky carioca. Sólo incluye sonidos que lo identifican sin pensar necesariamente en su carga histórica sino más como termómetro que evalúa lo que está pasando en las urbes.  El rework es para él ya un modo de existencia, y este dj set borra las fronteras entre lo propio y lo de lxs demás. Este mix incorpora tracks que podríamos encontrar en el catálogo de International chrome, clásicos como el sample de C´hantal - the realm, producciones propias y edits que mantienen altas velocidades, con notas sexuales y diversión autorreferencial.

She was a co-founder of a cultural center "Vzletnaya" and art-director/owner of the "Woods" bar. In her past she also organized international events, exhibitions and live concerts.

This summer she moved to Providence, Rhode Island to get her Master's degree in Graphic Design, and where she recorded this set.

She develops her style through intense rhythms and voices that change during her sets and she always leaves the room for experiments.
