ML001 – Breaking Bad EP

Another rising star, Roman Rauch, is next to step up to the plate. His “Space Places” is a deliriously loose chunk of intergalactic deep house. With its spiraling synth motif, clattering percussion and vast organ builds, it should appeal to both househeads and nu-disco bods alike.

Then there’s newcomer Bartellow, who delves into his bag of tricks and produces a stunning piece of piano-laden deep house funk. “Perhaps Strange” sounds like classic Larry Heard mixed with a dash of noughties disco sassiness. It’ll have dancers weeping tears of joy before the year’s out.

As if that wasn’t enough, Alkalino and Alphabet City have included one of their own collaborations – the rather large “Dolveala Discoteca”. Mixing heavyweight analogue acid house bass and snappy percussion with disco cowbells and rush-inducing pianos, “Dolveala Discoteca” is retro-futurist Balearic house at its very best.

There’s fast-rising deep house star James Johnston, who weighs in with “Before I Sleep Tonight”, a gorgeous chunk of Detroit-influenced deep tech goodness. With its swirling melodies, stargazing synths and subtle vocal samples, it’s like a warm hug from an E’d-up astronaut.
