Dimitri From Paris and DJ Rocca have lots of history of producing together as Erodiscotique and once again here they team up on a new single for Hell Yeah. The stunning original, Disco Shake, comes backed with remixes from Luminodisco, J Kriv, G&D and remix pioneer Tom Moulton.

Dimitri from Paris is a true electronic music legend – he pioneered his own French house sound at the start of his career, has mixed seminal compilations including the cult "Deluxe House of Funk" and the infamous "A Night At The Playboy Mansion" and has remixed everyone from The Rapture to Storm Queen in recent times. His partner in crime here, DJ Rocca – who is part of Ajello and the excellent Crimea X - is one of the key figures in the new Italian house scene. He has released lots of productions and remixes for Classic, Rekids and International Feel and once again comes up with the goods here.

In original form the single is a foot stomping bit of disco with organic drums, breathy vocals and plenty of laser like guitar lines shooting through the arrangement. Bright golden chords add a luxurious quality to the Italo referencing pianos and the twinkly, starry breakdown allows a moment to catch your breath before is off to authentic disco town once again.

Soulful and sugary at the same time, if eventually makes way to the Tom Moulton mix: Moulton is credited with inventing this style of club ready remix and here steals the show with the camp strings, unbridled joy and celebratory disco vibes of his seriously classy take on the original.

First on the flip is Luminodisco, a regular on the Hell Yeah label who blends everything from afro to funk to disco into his productions. His remix is a little more cosmic with frazzled synths, Studio 80 style disco colour and perfectly ramshackle percussion.

Next up is JKriv, the DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist head of Deep&Disco Recordings and touring DJ for disco outfit Escort. His version builds in layers, exploding into a pixelated blast of arpeggiated synth lines, tumbling congas and smoky vocal riffs.

Buy the EP digitally and you will also be treated to the G&D interpretation, which is a more low slung and deeper version than any other. Here the drums trudge along with loopy chords and a grinding bassline that really makes you move your ass.

Modern day disco rarely sounds as authentically uplifting and creatively exiting as this: it’s alive with very real human soul both in original form and when reimagined by a carefully chosen selection of experts in their field.

This incredibly electric event took place on Tuesday June 3rd from 6-9pm at Millennium Park in front of the 'Cloud Gate' bean sculpture before a bouncing, joyous crowd of thousands of house-heads... all coming together as one to celebrate the legacy of the Godfather of House Music.... FRANKIE KNUCKLES.   The sun was shining in the blue sky and a positive joyous vibe filled the air.   The DJs (Elbert Phillips, Craig Loftis, Greg Gray and Mike Winston) absolutely crushed it with amazing and heartfelt sets.

Elbert Phillips came of age on the burgeoning Chicago House Music scene in the 1980s. From humble beginnings, Elbert would blaze a trail, his DJing has taken him from Chicago to New York and then the world. After being chosen by Frederick Dunson of D/E Entertainment to play at a birthday party for Frankie Knuckles in 2002, Elbert was given the honored privilege to open for Frankie at public and private gigs over the next four years. Elbert has been working on studio production, resulting in the release of his reworking of Rufuss’ “Higher Together” (DJ Elbert’s Dancefloor Redux) featured on Qalomota’s Classics Remixed, and "Beacon Of Light" featuring spoken word artist, Isa Bright Starr on Qalomota Records (France).

Craig Loftis has been dj’ing in the Chicago music scene since 1979. He received a degree in Sound Engineering, and after redesigning the sound system for Frankie’s club the Powerplant, he became Frankie’s personal sound engineer, opening DJ and general manager. They jointly developed Frankie’s production company Powerplant LTD, did various remixes of existing songs which are now considered Deep House Chicago classics, and soon after concentrated on producing a Chicago artist named Jamie Principle, one of house music first stars.

He later became chief engineer in charge of production for DJ International Records where he engineered, mixed and produced songs for Fast Eddie, Tyree Cooper, Julian Perez, Bad Boy Bill, Frankie Hollywood Rodriguez, Joe Smooth, Sterling Void, Paris Brightledge and Mike Dunn just to name a few. In 2000 Craig also became a member of the Slang Music Group, a remixing company based in Chicago which did mix work on such artist as Pink, Kelly Price, Sisco, R-Kelly, Ruff Endz, Backstreet boys and Whitney Houston. In 2012 Craig and longtime friend Joe Smooth teamed up to form GIFTED SOULS, with one of their first client being Frankie Knuckles himself, for the mix on Frankie’s track “Get Over You” featuring B-SLADE. Gifted Souls has developed a large remix catalog featuring some of largest Labels and Artist on the house music scene worldwide.

DJ Greg Gray has been playing records since he was 12 years old. Greg got into beat mixing in high school and spent two summers as an intern at the Power Plant while he was in college, under the direction of Frankie Knuckles, solidifying their longtime friendship. Greg has seen the music come full circle. His continual DJ’ing and love for the music has made Greg a respected pioneer on the underground scene.

Mike Winston was Frankie's original opening DJ at the Powerplant and longtime friend. A pioneer in 1970’s DJ underground scene, Mike Winston was one of Frankie Knuckles early cohorts and dj collaborators.

Jey Kurmis is set to be a name on the rise after the ‘Lil’ Nic French EP’ drops on Hot Creations later this month. A four pronged attack of bumping summer jams flecked with infectious vocals - lead track ‘Lil’ Nic French’ first appeared on Richy Ahmed’s massive Rinse FM compilation and rightly sets the tone with its heavy bass beat and mind bending acid line. Next up, ‘LA Shazz’ specialises in a chunky percussive groove and heavy low-end. On the flip, ‘Lover’ is an irresistible al fresco affair centred on a super groovy cowbell that builds with tight kicks and a richly textured soundbed. Closing the package, ‘Miss Raadi’ is another deadly groover laced with a dose of freakiness.

Jey Kurmis is a Leeds based producer who has been dj'ing all over the UK for almost ten years and producing for around 7 years. From his first release on Phobic Records to this artist defining EP for Hot Creations, Jey has been honing his craft across ten releases and this EP has been getting championed by some of the biggest names in the game including Heidi, Jamie Jones, Richy Ahmed and wAFF.

For a long time we have been asking ourselves the question: Is there such thing as a local underground dance music scene in France? Hip hop has been the soundtrack of French ghettos for as long as we can remember, but France never had its own version of Baile Funk, or Juke, or even Garage for that matter. French people have emulated worldwide ghetto dance music for years and it’s a great thing, but there never was a truly French-bred version of that, a music genre coming from the kids in the clubs, in the streets, with its own codes, its own dances, its own culture. Then came the Tecktonik craze and an army of often cheesy goth-guidos gave us a glimpse of what could have become an interesting answer to that question. But the big company co-opting and massive branding of the phenomenon quickly killed the buzz and turned it into a terrible gimmick for children. Meanwhile, our interest for the European ancestors of Tecktonik, namely the Benelux-born genres Hardstyle and Jumpstyle, kept growing. This was underground and hardly accessible music loved and made by lower class kids from the north of Europe, often remixing and playing with the codes of popular music, with their own clubs, and their own dances showcased on thousands of YouTube videos: the exact definition of a local ghetto dance scene.

Victor Watel a.k.a Panteros666 grew up in the cold and trashy North of France, where Hardstyle and Jumpstyle have been around for years due to the region’s proximity to Belgium. Fascinated by the dark side of new technologies and the new cyber white trash lifestyle generated by nerdy internet culture, Victor became a true multimedia man. Working in the realms of communication and advertising by day like some sort of animated gif era Don Draper, Victor is also active on French internet video platforms via his hilarious viral comedy skits under the moniker Kamel Toe. But Victor has also always been a musician. Initially a drummer for multiple indie groups, now playing with dance-punk act Sexual Earthquake in Kobe, he started producing electronic music a couple of years ago, taking up the name Panteros666. While exploring the tropical sounds of dancehall, African house and South American dance music under the influence of collaborators such as Douster, Canblaster and Myd, Panteros was looking for an extra ingredient to make his music really unique, original, and truly representative of his cultural background. That’s when he had the idea to inject a healthy dose of Gabber kicks, Jumpstyle grooves and hard ass synths in the mix. Hard dance had often been a taboo for so-called tasteful electronic music lovers, so merging this terribly cold, nordic, dark and unapologetically WHITE music with warm, tropical, ghetto and even mystical/spiritual Native American influences was a rather extreme experiment, almost a political statement. By doing so he not only created a never heard before alliance in dance music, but also maybe one of the first truly French answers to extreme American ghetto dance music genres such as Juke, Footwork or Ghettotech.

“Kegstand” is a hysterical piece of mutant military hallucinogenic turbo house. Skipping joyfully from Native American chants to Jumpstyle and back to tropical riddims, always falling back on its feet, “Kegstand” is the banger that djs who are sick of bangers are gonna want to play anyway. Awesome Texas wonder Dubbel Dutch’s remix takes it back to the time when Holland’s finest party djs would mix bubblin sped up dancehall rythms with gabber stabs, creating something a bit more familiar and housy but just as infectious.

“X Lova” finds inspiration in a mixture of dreamy euro hardstyle, Chicago hard house backroom grooves, as well as the darkest of witch house. Pan flutes from the mysterious cities of gold and invocations of the Quetzalcoatl meet sweaty leathery hardcore rave and chopped up rap vocals, late at night during a ritual pagan ceremony in a forest somewhere in Wisconsin. Enigmatic New York post-everything group Cubic Zirconia deliver an amazingly swampy-yet-beautifully erotic remix. Tiombe Lockhart the group’s soulful vocalist whispers words of revenge over cold drum machines before producer Nick Hook screws the tempo down into a dark codeine dream.

Panteros666 has a posse of producers called Club Cheval. You may have heard of the three other Club Cheval members, namely Myd, Sam Tiba and the hyper productive mad scientist of beats Canblaster, as they are currently causing a massive stir collectively and individually in the global underground. We had the idea to ask them to work on a track that would be the production equivalent of the great tradition of rap posse cuts where every rapper had 16 bars to prove how dope he is and showcase his style and what made him unique amongst the other rappers in his crew. On “Horreo”, Club Cheval applies this idea to production, and each member has a minute to deliver his version of a common musical theme (musically “dropping an ill verse”). The result gives us the same sensation as when we were listening to Flava in Ya Ear remix, or any Wu Tang, Death Row or Flipmode song back in the day, and we sincerely hope it will lead to playground discussions such as “damn son, Panteros killed that joint with the ill build-up and latin monologue before the drums accelerate” “naw u crazy, Sam Tiba had already nailed it with that crazy grimey bassline flow during his part” and so on.
