The Brooklyn Gypsies are a group of NYC based musicians/ producers whose creative influences draw from the constant shifting of an ever changing urban sociopolitical landscape while retaining their unique cultural backgrounds through what has come to be recognized as “Gypsy” music.

Originating from Spain, Japan, Russia, Italy & U.S.A. BK Gypsies truly represents Brooklyn’s diverse ethnic heritage and style. The gypsies came to be in 2012 within Williamsburg Brooklyn’s Studio BPM music scene. Members include: Carmen Estevez, Takuya Nakamura, Tina Kristina, Brandon Lewis, Troy "Mobius" Simms & Zeb "The Spy From Cairo". After a number of collaborative projects between the artist were explored the opportunity to form a band that incorporated elements from each project arose. The groups sound is an infusion of Mediterranean, North African, Arabic Themes with Electronic, Dancehall and Dub Reggae. The term "Gypsy" was incorporated into the band name representing the nomadic spirit & way of life within this musical journey.

“Our Story” is the band’s first album, recorded during 2013-2014, and released in 2015. The album includes 12 tracks with some instrumental pieces. 

The majority of the album’s lyrics were written by Jad Brek, a local poet from Occupied Golan Heights. Busher Abu Saleh, and Shadi Abu Jabal also, participated in writing a couple of songs. The Album talks about a range of issues: social, political and the daily struggles of the Arab youth. 

Hawa Dafi utilized its eastern and western musical influences to create a unique sound. The album is sure to take you on a journey with its atmospheric textures and flow of gypsy, energetic sounds.

California’s last nuclear power plant is set to shut down. The decision to close the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant in San Luis Obispo County within the next decade was announced June 21st by Pacific Gas & Electric Co. And, that’s not it.  The agreement between PG&E and environmental and labor organizations seeks to replace the Diablo Canyon nuclear reactors with greenhouse-gas-free renewable energy and storage resources.

The environmental group Friends of the Earth helped draft the agreement. It was created in 1969 primarily to stop this power plant from being built. "The plant is built on a seismically active site, said Damon Moglen, senior strategic advisor for FOE. "There have been many concerns about safety at the plant."
