‘Reverting to basic principles enabled a full circle in production techniques for this EP, which is 
where the name & concept came from’.

The concept for Schacke’s, Apocalyptic Decadence was thought out during the dark days of the first lockdown in 2020, it is essentially about the desire for hedonism and excess being amplified when faced with apocalyptic omens and the annihilation of the familiar.

When faced with destruction, the psyche approaches a duality, it can either swallow the pill of bitter realism or withdraw and escape into the imaginal, constructing a world of hedonism and pleasure, the paradox of the latter, which the album explores, is that this approach only accelerates the process of impending doom and the delusion that through the pursuit of eschatological pleasure, the world might be orgasmically reborn.

Apocalyptic Decadence sees Schacke exploring the full spectrum of his musical discography, taking inspiration from the industrial, dark and rough sounds from his early days, combining it with the hyper-sensuality of his later works. The sound is twisted, psychological, sex-fixated and intoxicating.

The album can be considered the 3rd part in his “Pleasuredome Series”, following his prior two releases on Instruments Of Discipline: ‘Welcome To The Pleasuredome’ & ‘Artificial Intercourse’.

Itaewon Pulse is an electronic piece through tension, movement, and release. The
title track sets the tone with a steady, forward-striking urgent groove. Discovering
follows with tribal percussion and wooden textures, a stripped-down rhythmic
study that moves with instinct rather than intention. Tesserakt dives deeper into
shadow: aggressive, dark, and unrelenting—a force that twists the atmosphere
inward. The EP closes with Soju 909, lifting the energy into a warm, driving, housy
stomper that releases the pressure with a sense of motion, clarity, and late night
optimism.

Bio
Berlin-based JINAN crafts rhythmic minimal techno shaped by movement, instinct
and tension. Drawing from his German-Korean background, he constantly seeks
new ways—allowing each set and track to evolve into something unrepeatable.

Haven are kicking off 2020 with a boom with a new EP of politically pessimistic dance-floor-ready weapons from label boss Keepsakes. Following on from his exploration of chunky slow rippers on 2019’s ‘Modern Anxious Vernacular’, this next edition in the Haven mastermind’s discography puts greater emphasis on rhythmic groove for the dancers among us.

The record starts with ‘And So The Feckless Fall’ on the A1, featuring shuffling drum rhythms and ethereal vocal work, descending in to a menacing, swung synth-line for maximum club effect. This is followed by ‘Blue Boy Fucks It All’ on the A2. Reminiscent of the slo-mo bangers of Keepsakes’ last EP, this crawler of a track is initially propelled by its moody synth melody and booming drums, with a mid-track switch up putting melancholic pad chords front-and-centre. The flip side begins with ‘Ignorant Irony’ - a certified floor smasher prioritising groove with it’s swinging drum rhythms, cheeky vocal samples and sinister synth sounds. The record ends with a remix of the B1 from UVB - who reimagines the track in to a sneering, ominous slammer, with brutal yet groovy drum work and sampling closing the EP with another no-nonsense banger.
