A loop piece I made on the OP-1 in October last year. I can't remember the source or the process. But what I do remember is recording each track at super-low levels to make the most of the aliasing and noisy DSP in the OP-1.

I guess a lot of people have been unhappy about the noise and loop-clicks, on the OP-1, and this is fair enough, but I also think that when you embrace it - I think it can be pretty nice.

Korg littleBits running a wee 4-step sequence with delay, roughly matched to OP-1 tape speed at 100bpm. 4 layers recorded to tape tracks with different littleBits filter levels, recorded out with gentle mixer fades on each of the tracks and a finish with the obligatory OP-1 tape-stop :)

I really like the delay unit that comes with the Korg littleBits set - really dirty and grainy. This is 2 layers of the 4-step littleBits sequencer, plus a hand-played line on the OP-1 using a sample of the littleBits oscillator. The drums are courtesy of Dollboy's crazy old drum machine (https://soundcloud.com/dollboy), sequenced and with a bit of LFO in the OP-1. Added a bit of extra reverb in FLStudio.

Stardist - Korg littleBits + OP-1

A short composited excerpt from an evolving 4-channel sound installation piece for a "secret garden" in Frederiksværk, Denmark. 

Using hidden speakers in a decorated forest glade, the intention is to give passers-by the feeling that unseen, otherworldly visitors have made their home in the woods.

Composed entirely using the Teenage Engineering OP-1 synthesizer and sequencer. Production and mixing performed using FL Studio.

Secret Garden - sound installation excerpt

First out-of-the-box test of the new Korg Minilogue. I started making a helicopter sound with white noise and ended up with a space helicopter that Raymond Scott might have imagined.

Produced using just the white noise oscillator with very high resonance and modifying the 4-pole VCF with midi velocity and keyboard tracking. Delay effect is the internal Minilogue delay which I love as much as the Volca Keys delay :) 


Korg Minilogue Test : Heliscotter

Live noodle running a simple pattern on the Moog Mother-32 using the internal sequencer synced to the Korg Minilogue via midi, Volca sample synced to the Minilogue via 5V sync pulse. Minilogue is hand-played. Recorded direct into DAW with some delay and reverb.

The Mother is so rich and creamy , it's almost unfair to put the Minilogue up against it ;)

An experiment with the Minilogue arpeggiator since the new latch function was added - playing with getting a double delay effect using sync LFO to modulate wave shape... I think that's what it's doing anyway ;)

Roughly constructed from samples caught on shortwave radio - I believe it is the station ident for Vatican Radio - at least an Italian church radio station. Built around a partially randomised sequence and manually switching between sample patches. Recorded direct from the OP-1 with an open line-in from my portable radio, to whatever it was tuned in to at the time.

A remix I did for Yuri Lugovskoy's beautifully minimal self-titled CD on Home Assembly Music. 
It's a double-CD set, Yuri's original "Track One" through "Track Eight" have been remixed on CD2 by others including Chessie, The Humble Bee, William Ryan Fritch, Brave Timbers... lovely stuff - very happy to have been invited to contribute.
