Following on from the successful release of ‘Basic Colour Theory: Remixed’ in March, Catz n’ Dogz announce their latest EP ‘Upsi Bubsi'. The duo's first release of 2016 welcomes the New Year in true Catz n Dogz fashion with two tracks EP is a fruitful twist of cosmic melodies mixed under the duo's trademark heavy tech-house styled bass and percussion. 

The EPs’ opening and title track ‘Upsi Bubsi' is a certified floor filler from the get go. The track opens with a thunderous mix of 909 loops alongside a repeated throb of intense arpeggiated bass. The track is peppered with splurges of crashing cymbals, rolling toms and the hypnotic looped vocal whispering ‘don't stop'; a track clearly engineered for the dance floor. As the track builds, we are greeted with Egyptian styled keys, an unusual choice of sounds for most indeed, but a skill that we have become accustomed to in many of the duo’s productions. 

‘Elixir' offers a different experience to its counterpart with a collage of rising melodic chords and an 808 break beat. The track is a beautiful arrangement of graceful choir sounding melodies over warm sub-bass chords, seemingly inspired by early 90's Detroit. The track takes full form introducing tribal drum patterns alongside splashes of keys and styled cosmic percussion. The track is a testament to the producer’s creative prowess, showcasing their broad abilities to tackle all styles and genres of dance music.

This release undoubtedly highlights Catz N’ Dogz’ arsenal of talent in creating two very unique but equally as strong productions. Both possess the quality and pedigree of the duo's back catalogue and are set to command the globe’s top dance floors.

In February 2016 Midland made his contribution to the hugely influential BBC Essential Mix series. The end of the mix came in the shape of an unreleased track that would go on to soundtrack dance floors and festivals the world over. That track was 'Final Credits.' Since its creation in the depths of winter to its vinyl release in June, with weekly airings everywhere from Panorama Bar to DC10 to Dekmantel Festival, the record has united dance floors and become one of the most unlikely tracks of the year. As the summer disappeared, calls for a full release of 'Final Credits' have swelled, and now, thanks to The Classic Music Company we're delighted to say this is becoming a reality.

The music emanating from the DJ booth is that perfect club mix of driving percussion and soaring musicality, bursting out of the speakers, soaking everyone in melody, drenching them in sound. Warren's impressive career has seen him release the very first “Back to Mine”, a staggering eight albums for “Global Underground”, and one for “Renaissance”. He is also in control of A&R for record label Hope Recordings, as well as being a member of the highly acclaimed duo Way Out West. Starting as tour DJ with Massive Attack, moving onto a residency at super club Cream and playing at every self-respecting club on the planet, has led him to this natural position as one of the world's most respected DJs.

All this history has been eclipsed by Nick’s present: Nick continues to play out every weekend on every continent, whilst also maintaining Hope Recording's high quality output that they and Warren himself have become synonymous with; his DJ career spans two decades and is driven by a continual desire for change. His sound is forged by an enduring relationship with cutting edge producers all over the globe, in many cases long before they become established. In 2013 Hope Recordings released three releases under Warren's name and also a landmark 20th anniversary edition of the Renaissance masters series album, which Nick was honourably asked to compile. These diverse outputs from Warren on Hope Recordings have included a remix of global pop sensation Lana Del Rey's 'Summertime Sadness' and also two breathtaking original productions 'Devil's Elbow' and 'La Fabrica', both demonstrating Warren's diverse abilities in assuming a classic timeless sound, whilst still injecting a glossy and modern slant into his powerful productions. 'Devil's Elbow' was also supported with two highly reputable remixes from Max Cooper and jozif. Max Cooper's remix was supported by an unique conceptual video and received great critical acclaim reaching No.1 in Beatport's Electronica chart.

2014 saw the release of Nick's crowd funded "The Soundgarden" album which was supported via a very successful Pledge Music campaign, giving his fans the chance to directly engage and become part of the album in many different ways. In the later part of 2014 Nick released the single "Alta / Golden Cap" through Alex Niggermans Soulfooled Recordings, the release showcasing his innate ear for melody and impeccable production skills. Nick's most recent release was his collaboration with Guy Mantzur, entitled "Sad Robot" which came out on Bedrock Recordings. The track has received support and airplay from BBC6 music. It also reached no.4 in the Beatport Techno chart. In addition to all this of this, Nick has also kept up his extensive touring schedule and has many more exciting things in the pipeline for the rest of 2015. Former cover stars Tale Of Us have been busy since they graced the front of the January 2016 issue. The Italian purveyors of brooding, sweeping techno have been making waves with their Afterlife parties around the world and record label of the same name.

Their next offering is a remix EP and features wild new imaginings ​of 'Monument', the track they made with Vaal featuring on vocals. Both Stephan Bodzin and Barnt have remixed the track and we've got the exclusive first play of the latter's edit.

An epic sunrise and then a mesmerizing beautiful morning. No sand storms this time. Absolutely quiet and peaceful Playa. Feelings of of happiness, the fulfillment of the moment, and childish enlightenment were taking us over, and even of something more, something that is hard to describe, because it is rather similar to magic, that is flowing in the air over that giant heart on the top of bus.

We'd like to spread our love and gratefulness to every one who was still with us at midday, while the sun was in its zenith. We literally got burnt under its rays. It must have been the hottest day of that week. But could it stop us? No way. That 3,5 hours were like one moment.

Our congratulations and thanks to the Robot Heart team. You've been producing love for 10 years and granting happiness in Black Rock City. We could feel it from outside, and now we are honored to be part of it. We really appreciate it.

GeistCast Vol 9 - Iboga & Deviations Special

Another Wildwood done and dusted and as always it was another epic weekend full of amazing music and even better people. 

At Wildwood-stock I got the opportunity to play 6-9pm on the Saturday night, sunset. The sunset slot is always a special one at Wildwood as the transition from light to dark lends itself to a broader range of genres  and musical direction, especially when the darkness falls. . Just as importantly its also when everyone returns back to the nest after a epic day of adventure and discovery, ready to dance it all out. 

It was a really powerful part of the weekend to be a play a big part in  and its honestly one of my favourite sets I've ever played. The last few months Ive felt more in control of my music than any time over the past ten years and I feel this set represents that.
