The "Summer Soulstice" is a big festival of Soul/Funk/Disco/Soulful House and relative genres that takes place in London every year, and which purpose is to raise money to help fight cancer. For this 7th edition, I've created a special rework in memories of Andy Weekes, along with committee member Jester Groove and the rest of the "Summer Soulstice" Crew.

Story :
"In 2006 a dear friend of ours & one of Barnet’s favourite sons, died of cancer in the USA where he had lived for many years. To pay our tribute to a much missed friend & to keep his memory alive, the family & a group of his nearest & dearest, decided to hold a special annual get-together for local friends & an extended family of fellow soul enthusiasts @ a venue close to his heart…"

Nonna Fab is a core part of Sheffield’s progressive music scene, founding Apricot Ballroom, Footprints Jazz Club, Jazz On The Park Festival, and his band Fuji Speedway. He’s also part of the consortium behind Grub Records, a new record shop and wine bar opening this summer. As well as regularly playing as part of his duo with Apricot Ballroom, Nonna Fab’s back catalogue of releases explores house, boogie, jazz and broken beat.

This release shows an organic curation of instruments, touching on live elements, jazz improvisation and dance-floor orientated rhythms. We Still Out Here began a few years ago as a nod to the iconic NYC post-disco and proto-house sound, and to serve as a message that there are still producers out here working on and inspired by that sound.

 review at Juno Kyoto Jazz Massive's Shuya gets the highly limited luxury release treatment from Weston's Mukatsuku. Amid the treats are some delicious beats, all exclusive to vinyl. You may already know the jittering, organic funk of both "Take A Look At Yourself" and "Love & Live" from the Root Soul version album on Village Again last year. However, Mukatsuku have coaxed an all new Root Soul Afrobeat version of the latter for this 12" and put it pride of place on the A-side. Complementing this, Weston and Rudy's Midnight Machine remix of "Still In Love" genuinely lives up to its Epic Strings tag, too. Languishing in dramatics but with full pomp reserved, it's yet another Mukatsuku masterpiece.
