In this bio about the new Dim Garden - A Dauntless Sprite Descends (Album) we are not going to define the concept of this musical jewel, since each of the selected tracks is a part of the astral journey in the enchanted forest of Dim Garden in The Hague. Choose the door from which you want to start the Album and you will have a different and mystical experience.

Close your eyes...can you feel it? giant mushrooms and animals running alongside us while they wink at us, so that we can continue to enter the forest while some magicians with giant long beards are playing synthesizers in the treetops in the light of the Moon.

When we believe that we have completed the entire forest, a giant light appears from the bottom of the forest and all the animals go towards it, to pay their respect. One of the Forest Gods of Dim Garden appeared... the white wizzard named ''Legowelt'' @legowelt-official with a super magic remix and his fast paced take on the track ''Visions of Love'' and all his synths around him.
The housekeeper of the Forest is Jentlemen with her Remix of ''Na Mata''. Without realizing it, you have already been absorbed by the essence and atmosphere of Dim Garden... Open your eyes... or was it just a dream?

To complete this italo Moderni release of @dimgarden we have invited her to our series of mixes so that she exposes her way of understanding electronic music with a great underground mix.
It is not daring on our part to say that Dim Garden is one of the most avant-garde sounding production in Europe.

Her style mix dark and mystical touch mixing Electro with EBM and Darkwave Synths, we fell in love with her style from the first day, We are very sure that this Album that she has released with Italo Moderni, will give a lot to talk about and will be a before and after in her sound. “White Out” è il primo disco dei Barachetti / Ruggeri: un duo, anzi un Due, formato da Luca Barachetti (ex Bancale) e Enrico Ruggeri (ex Hogwash, oggi musicista sperimentale) e basato sull'incontro / scontro di due visioni espressive, che portano in dote voce e suono, parola e ritmo, corpo e trama.

“White Out” è un concept album sul male di testa come epifania del declino etico, culturale e soprattutto esistenziale dell'Occidente. Una fotografia dell'apocalisse a bassa intensità ma ad altissima disperazione dell'uomo nella tarda modernità. Un susseguirsi di brani imprevisti (ovvero non pianificati), canzoni-non-canzoni dilatate e contorte, tracce non scritte ma scritturate dal reale come indagini radicali e radicate sulle possibilità del suono e del linguaggio. Da una parte una manciata di testi in forma di poesia scritti da Luca Barachetti, una poesia che però deve fare i conti con altro suono; dall'altra le macchine analogiche, gli strumenti autocostruiti e gli strumenti tradizionali (ma suonati in modo atipico) di Enrico Ruggeri, per la prima volta alle prese con delle parole dall'inizio del suo percorso sperimentale. 

Il risultato è un disco di esperienze sonore tutte differenti, che non tralasciano suoni psichici e disturbanti ma pure scampoli meditativi ed evocazioni. Dodici brani divisi fra otto tracce sul e nel male di testa (come rappresentazioni e disvelamenti: “Dolore bianco”, “Corpo Occidente”, “Pulsa”, “Macula”, “White Out”, “Mare morto”, “Pansa psichico”, “Uomo occipitale”) e quattro tracce analgesiche (come tentativi di ribellione salvifica: “Uomo scritturato”, “San Sebastiano”, “Cretto del vero”, “Fiume verticale”). Una massa sonora che è il frutto di tre anni di lavoro e di un vagare fra influenze, stimoli e suggestioni suonando poco, riflettendo tanto, mangiando e ridendo molto, umanamente. 

Il percorso verso “White Out” ha visto Barachetti / Ruggeri transitare attraverso alcune tappe fondamentali. Prime fra tutte le due videoperformance “Fiume verticale” (https://youtu.be/A0c6mQL0rpc, con il violinista Michele Gazich) e “Uomo occipitale” (https://youtu.be/bCBsAuKT7wk, con lo psicoterapeuta bioenergetico Claudio Agosti) in cui i due brani presenti anche in questo disco sono stati proposti in versioni profondamente diverse. Ma assai importante è stata anche la performance “A l    d i    q u a    e    a l    d i    l à    d e l    morire” tenuta in occasione della Giornata della Memoria dell'anno scorso, dove l'installazione “Fiume verticale” ha interagito con le parole di Paul Celan e la batteria di Gionata Giardina.

“White Out” è insomma l'approdo artistico, politico, personale di un ritrovarsi nel grande black out bianco del contemporaneo accelerato, dove l'orizzonte è scomparso, il paesaggio è freddo, disumano e ogni cosa è indistinguibile. Ma in questo bianco baluginante dove la nostra testa pulsa e ci dice che siamo esseri cardiaci di carne, nervi e sangue possiamo ricominciare a lasciarci travolgere dalla realtà, a farci trafiggere dall'amore e spaccare dalla consapevolezza. Per rialzare il cranio verso un'azzurrità salvifica. Una reazione vitale mai come ora necessaria: uomini occipitali che tornano ad essere Uomini verticali.

Maxwell Sterling is a composer and producer based between the UK and Los Angeles. His debut album, ‘Hollywood Medieval’ was released on The Death Of Rave this year. Currently he has been an artist in residence at Wysing Arts Centre, researching and composing work that deals with voices and aural histories.

It's hard to imagine that porn movie scores could be of any interest. You have to go quite far back in time in order to find surprisingly sophisticated "porn music". In the world of gay pornography, the late 70s and early 80s are an interesting era when it comes to music scores. Disco was still very popular of course and it was still used a lot but there was also a whole range of different moods out there.  Being gay was not just about partying, it was also about being an outcast, living with forbidden compulsions... And I think is is what partly explains the use of much darker music in some gay films back then, including quite interesting electronic music. Of course, the vibe differs a lot from one movie to the other, but movies like "Turned On" (1982) or "Games" (1983) (both featuring legendary porn star Al Parker featured on the artwork) have some of the most interesting music I've ever encountered in film. Slow paced, very spacey, the music is so intriguing, I just felt compelled to share it. And by doing a bit more research, I came across a variety of scores that I thought would make a great mix. So here's the result, hope you enjoy it.

Keep in mind that the music comes from film tape transfered onto VHS tape later digitized to web format videos... hence the poor sound quality!

Finally, I'd like to point out that the majority of the pornstars featured in the porn films included in this mix died of AIDS in the late 80s and early 90s.
