It is all about timing; with their debut album "Atoms To Atoms" across three stunning pieces of vinyl coming later this month, the timing is perfect for a 55min mix with a good few unreleased/up and coming tracks from Zodiac Childs and some of their favourite artists alongside tried and tested heaters old and new. 

Zodiac Childs channels the spirit of UK hardcore; sonically leaning on the sounds of electro, classic breaks and techno. They tend to take their audience on a journey across the entire nightlife experience, from atmospheric opener to the energy of abandoned northern English factories and mills, rusted and empty yet filled by 303 basslines. 

With otherworldly EP releases on Exalt, Further Electronix and their own Zodiac Wax they will now finally add to their impressive discography with their new LP:

In an unconventional approach, this is our first EP where not only Hungarian artists are released, We opened tha gates for international producers now also. We thought that there would be one such occasion each year, closing the years in a similar way.
This time Anton Kubikov and TM Shuffle were our international guests and the label heads, 7mirror and Viktor MATO made a collaboration.

I've been wanting to release a track that embodies a futuristic dystopian atmosphere without falling into the usual cyberpunk sound. Instead of imitating, I drew inspiration from the genre to create something fresh. HOLOGRAPHIC blends elements of synthwave, cyberwave, slap house and cinematics, resulting in a powerful track filled with energy but with an emotional undertone that's always prevalent in my music. BYTES09 is Sleep Through the Storm by A Lily (aka James Vella of @phantomlimb), released on October 16, 2020 on limited edition cassette and digital. Pre-order from Bandcamp.

“The Storm” in the title, Vella explains, refers to the dark period in human history that we are currently experiencing and the accompanying personal anxieties; “Sleeping Through” is surviving it, a moment of personal protection while the turbulence rages around us. It is neither ambient nor electronic music, instead Vella is exploring a form of analogue synthesis that balances light and dark.

The eight tracks were mostly built live, looping and layering a single performance, pushing repetition and patterns - exploratory, cellular variations on a theme, lyrical songs that say something without lyrics. For the most part, Sleep Through the Storm is an expression of sadness and lament, but it is proof that there can be harmony and consonance in misery.
