Quickly following up the last, instant sell-out smash, Shir Khan's infamous "Black Jukebox" series hit us with the 12th edition. Introducing anonymous project Aussteiger who gets things bouncing with the Summer house monster, "Bangbao". Lush filter sweeps, twinkling keys and powerful bass are order of the day here as the producer works his magic on one of the sunniest grooves we've heard this year. "Return" keeps that outdoor terrace flavour but plunges us deep into the twilight, tribal drums and deep electronics locking us into its hypnotic recess. Martin Lewis contributes a seriously fun and summery version of "Now That We Found Love", utilizing glorious xylophones and horns throughout the melody and letting it roll out with aplomb. Finally, we get the cheeky "Do It" edit which combines hypnotic congas with funky guitar licks and a sun-burnt, Latin energy to create a sizzling brew of hot dancefloor energy. Great stuff! Trevino aka Marcus Intalex joins recent Aus signings Recloose and Cassy with his 'Casino' EP. Marcus Intalex is widely known for making ground breaking drum and bass. In 2011 he started the Trevino alias to feed his desire to get back to his roots and rekindle his 4 to the floor spirit. 

This new phase of his career propelled him to move to Berlin where he's continued to develop a hugely impressive discography that’s included releases on Ben Klock's Klockworks and Martyn's 3024.

'Casino' brings together three deftly structured and dance floor focused tracks that blur the boundary between house and techno in true Trevino fashion.

This is a remix I did for Jamie Lloyd, one of Sydney's most talented musician. 
                  The track came out in January 08 on Future Classic, backed up with a Soultourist remix of "You're Out or In?". In other words, it's a Drumpoet release in disguise. The virus keeps spreading ;-)
                  Concerning my remix, I wanted something with more "ooomph" than my previous tracks...judge it for yourself, but I think this one is on a rave tip!

Nurturing and promoting fresh and exciting talents has always been an integral part of the Proton Music mission statement. With the Netherlands a creative hotbed for the entire dance music industry, it is therefore with great pleasure that we welcome Deeparture to the label with his outstanding "Flight of Imagination" EP.

From the cultural hub, Amsterdam resident, Dominique Vijverberg, has risen rapidly among the ranks of the underground dance community in double quick time. Carefully building a reputation for exquisitely crafted and innovatively programmed dance music, using his Deeparture production soubriquet, Vijverberg, has already caught the attention of the industry's most celebrated names.

Early work for a clutch of imprints saw the Dutch producer dabble in the world of electronic music. However, it was with the airline industry inspired, "Purcer EP", for Dutch imprint, WEITER, in March 2017, that the Deeparture sound really began as Vijverberg took centre stage. Commanding attention with a pair of tracks that have been supported by the likes Hernan Cattaneo, Guy Mantzur and fellow countryman, Eelke Kleijn, the Deeparture name took off with soaring success.

With a forthcoming release on Cinematique to come, Proton Music now opens the door on a promising new career for the Dutch talent, as the twin track "Flight of Imagination" EP showcases Deeparture's extraordinary talent.

Inspired by a holiday in the central Cuban city, "Trinidad" is full of the joyous melodic flair that has become a staple of the Deeparure sound. A sunlit vocal phrase combines with melodic riffs and sequences in a rich blend of counterpoint. Coupled with a dominant beat and open hi-hat percussive rhythm, a soaring breakdown provides the perfect counterweight for a grooving dance floor gem.

Partner track, "Dreamliner", takes its vision from the Boeing 787 aircraft of the same name. Similarly redolent in the percussive groove of its predecessor, a melodic riff full of earworm ingenuity sits alongside elegant chord progressions and sublime floor-filling bass line. As the melodic sequences evolve across the seven-minute flight, Deeparture's skill is brought fully to the fore in a work that is replete with a joyous vibrancy that epitomises his technique and flair.

Deeparture's "Flight of Imagination" is sure to signal a voyage of success with two tracks of the highest quality.

The music of Genius of Time has always been defined by a certain elegance and grace. Finding new ways into and out of the labyrinth that some people call (deep) house, one the Swedish duo’s inner strength is the uncanny ability to create tension, sustaining and playing with it, before rewarding the listener (or dancer) with a fulminating mirror ball. Same goes for their treatment of percussive elements. 
„Peace Bird“, the opener of GOT’s EP of the same name, is a prime-example of that technique: a tight build-up and an intricate breakdown lead to heavily strings and foolproof floor finesse. Coming along with „Smiling Into Eternity“ that mellows you down easy as well as the club ready  „Rymd01“, the whole thing is a more than worthy successor to GOT’s first EP for Running Back almost five years ago. Niceness unlimited. Nerd facts: most of the elements of these three tracks here were recorded live and then mixed down on a reel to reel. No safety net, no double bottom!  Genius of time and genius of love.
