This is a song about Janet Mackenzie (nee Nicolson) from the island of Rona who after loosing a lot of her family in drowning accidents put a light every evening in her window to guide ships safely past the dangerous rocks. She was awarded a pension from the Royal Navy in recognition of all the lives she saved.
