The idea behind the Afterlife project is to challenge how an SP1200 album sounds. Rather than emulating golden era hip-hop, we used the SP as a sound processor to incorporate the grainy textures achieved by extreme pitch manipulation into a dark, modern, musical context. By pushing the limits of acceptable degradation, we have created a forward-looking, original soundscape using ONLY samples filtered through the SP1200. Put simply, it sounds like nothing before it. 

While the project may be difficult to pin down genre-wise, the informed listener might observe shades of atmospheric European jazz, Bay Area Mobb music and '90s Memphis rap tapes.
