هنوز بال خودش را پرنده باور داشت

چه فکرهای بلندی که « باز» در سر داشت
what big ideas the falcon had in his head
قفس اگرچه حصار ِ همیشه ماندن بود
Though the cage was meant to be a lasting fence
برای روز مبادا، هنوز یک در داشت
it nevertheless, had a door for a rainy day
پرنده روی زمین هم به اوج می نگریست
even on earth, the bird would be staring at the apogee 
به آسمان بزرگی که در برابر داشت
in the vast sky above him
چقدر خسته و داغم از این حصار مخوف
I am so weary and miserable in this dreadful cage
که از اصالت من انتظار ديگر داشت
as there was a different purpose for my noble birth
چگونه سر كنم و دم نزنم
how can I put up with this and keep quiet
در اين قفس كه مرا در برداشت
in this cage that has fenced me in?
در اين قفس كه مرا پرپر كرد
In this cage that made my feathers  fall off one by one
به حكم اينكه نبايد پر داشت
for being guilty of having feathers 
مگو نمي شود و راهي نيست 
is it impossible and is there no way ?
كه ميله هاي قفس را برداشت 
to remove the bars of this cage
به آب و دانه نسازد شاهين
The royal falcon cannot survive on seeds and water alone
به حكم آنكه نبايد پر داشت
just because he is not suppused to have feathers
