Been collecting a bunch of random analogue synths and other bits of external noise making equipment over the last few months which I justified to myself by saying I'd make a sample pack... This tune came together made entirely from those bits and pieces so thought would be a nice place to start my venture into that world of sample packs.

You can purchase the tune on it's own or for £5 you get the tune, the stems and every single sound in the track in single hit and loop form, both processed and raw where appropriate. 90% analogue stuff, with plenty of versatility to do whatever you want with them entirely royalty free.

Upon purchase I'll email the link with the properly organised sample pack (single hits / one shots etc) as Bandcamp doesn't let me include that directly.

Got plans to do a few of these so get in touch if you've got any ideas for what you'd like to see in future projects.

Murder He Wrote links up with fast-rising east London MC @idris-miles to bring chaotic party energy on new single ‘Rave Out’ - pairing big 808s, rave stabs and breakbeats with Idris’ quick-fire ode to late nights.

With both artists having separately released on DJ Zinc’s Bingo Bass in early 2023 and MHW having remixed Idris, Friendless and Xira’s single ‘Drama’ in March, the decision to link up in the studio to work on a collaboration was an obvious one, rounding off a strong year for the pair. Watch out for more collaborations between the two in 2024...

He might have only landed his first releases in 2014, but in just a few years Murder He Wrote has made more than an impact on the UK’s fertile bass scene. In this short time he’s become pretty infamous for playing a particularly weighty range of club ready tracks. Fusing elements of garage, hip-hop, dancehall and funky, it’s music driven by its eclectic nature, while its ties also lie firmly in the UK. Having signed for two releases last year, Murder He Wrote has recently found somewhat of a home on Roska Kicks & Snares, meanwhile he’s also garnered support from UK veterans Toddla T and Zinc.  

With his FABRICLIVE debut on 10th March just around the corner, he dropped this fresh mix for us to demonstrate the broad spectrum of his musical world.

Murder He Wrote - Aaliyah Riddim [Free Download]

Meet James Ongley AKA Murder He Wrote: self-proclaimed mystery writer and amateur detective by day, prodigal son of UK Funky by night. While we haven't had the chance to research any of his investigative work or read any of his novels, his all-star status in the UK Funky community and beyond as a producer, DJ, and label-head certainly speaks for itself. After a few standout early releases on Roska's Kicks and Snares imprint and big mixes for outlets like Fabric, Rinse FM, and BBC Radio One, James continued to solidify himself as a beacon of influence and taste making in the scene with his own exciting new label Rhythm Athletic. His productions stand out with a degree of smoothness that can be rare and difficult to achieve in an erratic rhythmic pattern like UK funky's. Where his peers often rely too heavily on excessive percussion, James' beats fall right into place without trying to do too much.
