Murge's Magic Hour - 12.02.22

A vibe that is minimal, but melodic. Mellow, yet driven. A little murky at times, but mostly illuminated. This mix emerged from music that was inspirational to me during the pandemic.

DRIFT

My first mix in 7 years! sounds about right, as I write this I'm 6 years into a demanding and rewarding career in commercial real estate, my eldest son is 7.5  and my youngest is almost 5, life is good and I've still managed to keep djing through it all, just not hitting record that often! 
I took a different approach to this with time so limited these days, it's a pure studio mix done in ableton with some recorded automation for eq, but I tried to let the tracks do their thing mostly. I'm going to keep trying this studio mix stuff as I like the efficiency of it combined with the thoughtfulness of the programming. I'm hoping I  can put some stuff out more regularly this way. 
The inspiration for these vibes rides on the tail of a set I played for a friend's celebration recently where all positive vibes were necessary,  hopefully achieving the goal of lifting us all up through this wonderful music. Track list as follows:

Glad Days Vol 1

I am so happy to be returning to my podcast series with a live mix from my set at @bass-c0ast Festival 2022. I opened the brand new Cabin stage on Friday afternoon and it was such a beautiful experience.

Get Lost — Sunset Breaks Mix

Recorded live at The Common on December 22, 2022. This set nearly didn't happen at all. My first flight was cancelled due to weather and only thanks to some helpful folks on a different airline did I make it on time. It ended up being one of my favourite sets of the year. Thanks to all the friends who came out and to my Night Vision family and the Common for hosting!

We are excited to present release number 5 from Tropical Oasis Retreat Maui - Sunshine Jones'  100% Live set on Saturday night!

Sunshine's inspirational messages and brilliant music were the perfect way to close out our first day and night of amplified music.

In addition to this live set Sunshine also played a dj set, hosted a small music seminar - mahalo for being such an integral part of ur event!  

Sunshine Jones is often called a "house legend" from San Francisco. A founding member of Dubtribe Sound System. He also makes electronic music by himself. He travels the world performing a live/DJ set - live mixing, singing, re editing on the fly, and championing the idea that literally anything you can syncopate is house music. He re edits for leisure, experiments with electronics for adventure, is often in an airplane, and is very kind to children.
