With this set I wanted to create awareness on the 8th continent, that is now located in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean. Known as the Great Pacific Patch/ Pacific Trash Vortex, basically made of plastic debris, that's damaging the marine environment and marine creatures. It’s important for each and everyone of us to live in a more sustainable thought process. 

We only have one Earth, which need to be treated with care and consciousness.

The visual inspiration for this set was derived from @Transmoderna and musical inspiration from @innervisions

Trip To 8th Continent (Transmoderna x Innervisions Inspired)

Bollywood music reminds me of sweet memories from my childhood. I used to watch the entire cinema dance to music videos with hundreds of dancers, and those screaming and whistling in cinemas are a part of our strong culture and an extravagant vibe which your can’t experience in any part of the world except India. 
This same vibe is the one I would love to bring to the world of electronic dance music and this track is a step closer to bringing Bollywood energy to House / Indie Dance / Techno music dance floors.

My first holiday after Covid was in May 2022, to Bali. As soon as we landed, we went straight to watch Sabo & Goldcap play a five hour set at Savaya, and that was a surreal and magical sonic experience. 
For the first time in 2 years - after being caged in this tiny little Island of Singapore- I finally felt rejuvenated and inspired, and realised how much I missed the dance floor and the congregation of souls through Music. 

The feeling of being back to life, back to music, back to listening to talented artists live and not through small speakers at home. That is the feeling and the moment of joy that I wanted to capture in this track.

Randomly started watching this food show on Netflix last weekend - Somebody feed Phil, through the streets of Marrakesh. The next thought on mind was to go to Morocco 🇲🇦 one day to witness the streets painted in Majorelle Blue. 
Then immediately started scouting for Oreintal Deep house and found some amazing tracks, which turned into a 2.5 hour set! If you like Deep House with rich oriental flavour, this should do be a treat! Enjoy 💙

MURUGAN brings you on journey that combines Indian festive energy and melodies to Electronic Music Dance Floors. 
Born and raised in India, currently living in Singapore. Specialised  in Film Audio Production / Game Audio Design, ventured into Electronic Music production and co-founded a DJ Collective called Raja Rani. 

Since my childhood I’ve always wanted to be a musician, composer, performer and be related to music in some form. I didn’t have the luxury to learn music, since I sucked at day school curriculum. That didn’t stop the curious kid in me, I started cultivating my noob Sound Engineering skills by mucking around with any Hi-Fi system and speakers found in my vicinity, tweaking those tiny EQ knobs, connecting numerous speakers to systems ways beyond their capacity and breaking them eventually. I still remember this incident during our family holiday, If am not wrong we were at Hyderabad - India and someone gave me some holiday shopping cash. During the trip I found someone selling speakers on streets and I used that little amount of money I had to buy a pair of tiny tweeters, which I eventually connected to our Hi-Fi system at home, the treble it produced gave me joy. 
Moving forward my conservative childhood, I am truly grateful to my Mother who gave me the opportunity to purse my Master Degree in Audio Production(2012), this was first big step in my life, to pursues my dreams and really put my heart in educating myself with something I love. Whatever I learnt in School before this was meaningless to me. 
Fast forward 8 years ⏩  worked as a Sound Designer / Sound Engineer for over 50+ Film Titles, an amazing  journey, loved all the crazy bumps. 
2020, here comes our beloved Covid, the world stood still. Busy work life hit pause. Had too much time to think, ask questions to myself… what’s next? Where am I going? What’s the purpose? What if? What not? Why not? Fuck it….
I decided to seek comfort from my long lost love in Music production. Started producing music after 8 long years with the very little knowledge I had from schools days. Scrapped a lot more than I produced. Decided to hop on this journey with loads of self doubts, lack of confidence, self criticism, basically shy to show my work out as I have set the standards high to myself. I can never be satisfied with my own work, never. Being proud of it is another impossible feeling. But thanks to all my loved ones and well wisher who supported and motivated me to produce music in past years. 
If you wondering where my artist name MURUGAN comes from, Its inherited from my late father. The music in me is from him and nobody else, so I thank him for being a part of this journey.
